Dontcha luv that title?
I decided to stick this thread in the Announcements forum because I'm noticing a common occurrence with thread titles here at Website Babble. If you could keep the following 2 things in mind when posting here it would make very happy.
1) Please do not ask for me directly in a thread title. This forum is for everyone to participate and often times when you do that, it discourages others from reading or answering. There are a lot of helpful people here who want to help and have useful information.
I read every forum post here so I will respond when I can.
That doesn't mean I'll reply to every thread, but I do my best to reply to threads when I have something useful to contribute. Unfortunately I had to disable the Private Messaging feature for my username, which I know disappointed a lot of people.
I used to allow people to PM me when I first launched this forum a year ago. Unfortunately that got abused and I found myself spending more time answering PM's than responding to threads here. It was very counterproductive, especially as the forum continued to gain more activity. Not to mention I was answering the SAME questions over and over again and if the question had been posted on the forum for all to see, everyone could have benefited from the answer.
Now I will admit, sometimes threads fall through the cracks and I'll miss them from time to time, but I usually see everything that is posted here. So hang tight. If you post a question that is specific to me and you don't receive an answer for a day or two, then just reply to your own thread with a "Bump" and that will bump your thread to the top of the list.
2) When you start a new thread,
please make the title describe what you are writing about. "Help me!" or "I need help!" doesn't thoroughly describe a thread's contents. It also makes it difficult for people to find information.
Say you know there was a thread in the Blogger and RSS forum about Blogger tags, but you couldn't remember the name of the thread. If the person titled the thread "I need help", it makes it difficult to find.
Yes, this forum has a search feature so I'm sure you'd find it eventually, but it makes browsing so much more efficient when people use descriptive thread titles. This is only for new threads, not for existing threads.
If you are doing any of the above, no need to call yourself out or apologize here. Not trying to single anyone out. After all, there are multiple users who do this from time to time so please don't feel I'm addressing one or two people. I'm just trying to make the forum more useful for everyone.
