Hi, my name is Nick Simpson.

I have been a webmaster for years and I am glad to run into this little jewel of a site. There are other forums out there for webmasters but this one really seems to lean toward helping the newbie.

I love that, because you can only keep what you give away, especially with knowledge. If you don't use it you loose it and I love to help others. If you are new you will be able to get all the help you can ever need here and if you have been around you can refine you knowledge by assisting others and at the same time you may get that epiphany you have been looking for about your own website.

Just glad to be a face in the crowd and thanks for having me, Nick.

Hello Nixwebo,

Welcome to the forum!

Your absolutely correct about this forum. There are plenty out there but I find it difficult to sort through the piles of mostly useless or repeat information. I enjoy learning about monetizing websites, a subject with which I am mostly unfamiliar, and in turn do refine a lot of my skills by helping out where I can.

It's a great balance.

In that spirit did you convert an animated .gif to an .ico? (NixWeb) I never thought about that - that's GREAT!

Nick,

There is so much information here, it's hard to image anyone not finding what they're looking for when it comes to "anything web". The folks here are very helpful and knowledgable. On the flip side to that, it's a cool place to hang out. Welcome and I'm glad you're aboard, cuz now I can pick your brain about Joomla. Was it hard to setup? I'm interested in using a Joomla template but found it sort of confusing when I went to the site.

Welcome, and thanks for the PDF tip on your site. I opened a gmail account and BAM.... I made a PDF file. Don't you just love Google. Viva la Google!

Well, I setup a little code that tells the site to use a gif instead of the ico file....here it is:

Here is a animated .gif file created from my avatar at the site described below.

My favorite site to use to convert any regular image you have into a perfect icon file is http://www.htmlkit.com/services/favicon/

Its easy to use and it gives a couple of options for animation including text!

When done it makes a nice little zip file with your .ico files and scripts to download....Nice.

(for some reason I cannot add images to this post, I checked before saving and I still can in other repies/posts just not here, wierd..)

Thanks Nick for the great compliment. A lot of forums are mean and nasty to the newbies (I won't mention any of their names! LOL) So I wanted this forum to be as friendly as possible. The members here are great and I'm glad to see the activity picking up here.

Well the compliments come easy when you have developed a community of this caliber. Your site seems to have a few really active members that are not afraid to help the new guys out and as the new guys become learned, there will be a whole new wave of helpers on the way!

I really think you got a good thing going here and I am glad to be part of it.
