Default I usually lurk in the background

Hey there... My name is Tracey and I'm usually just a lurker. I've been dabbing in web-sites since the late 80's. Nothing too serious, just enough to get by....I still prefer to code by hand, unless it's a table, then give me WYSIWYG any day!!

Anyways, My employer sold their company last December and I decided to hang out my shingle (doesn't every employee think they can do it better??)

I'm in the property management industry by trade, but in the process of dragging my web-site into 2010 I found Lisa...

Needless to say, my family and kids are sick of hearing your name tee hee. But seriously, I have to admit, your real life story has inspired me to finally get off my but and develop a second web-site that is not so narrow in focus as the one for my business. I don't know why every one doesn't do it!!!! All it takes is a little patience.

Oh, and I figured it was about time I stopped being a closet web-master. If nothing else, you've helped me have confidence that my "hobby" should be taken seriously.

I can't program Java, I don't write Javascripts, flash just frustrates me, but I know how to copy paste and follow instructions laff.

Anyways, the length of this post goes to show why I've been in the closet up to now, once I get started, it's hard to turn me off..

Looking forward to meeting you all in the forums, I have a few years of coding to catch up on!

Hi Bookie966! You chose the right place to 'come out of the closet'.

You'll find great help here and all the motivation you need to bring your websites to their highest standards.

Well, welcome to the foreground. Don't worry about programming. I can't do any of those other languages either, and the great thing is you really don't have to if you want to become successful. Just take it a step at a time and stick around here. I bet you'll learn a lot!

Default Welcome, Tracey!

Glad to have you jump into the fray. We look forward to your participation.

Just a thought, but as a former landlord, I suspect that you may have just the inside knowledge and experience to have a profitable site on that very topic, property management. You could focus on providing help to new as well as experienced people, but especially those who are newly getting involved. Like all those people who cannot sell their homes and have decided to rent out their existing home so they could move to a new job location.

While I no longer rent any property out to anyone, I know from exerience what it is like. I could have used some good advice when I did! Unfortunately, I learned a lot the hard way—trial and error (all too much of the latter).

Hi Tracey! Welcome to WB. A friendly word of advice: I wouldn't worry so much about the coding part of it, but rather, the marketing/getting traffic part. You'll need more knowledge about the latter than the former. Do your keyword research in order to define your focus and lay out a plan for your site.

Let us know how it goes!
