Change a template?

Hello all. I am really green at creating websites. I was on Lisa's site, 2createawebsite.com and I greatly appreciate her advice. It steered me here.

. Now I am trying to create my first website using the Website Tonight software. I am running into two problems:

1.) I have chosen the template "Gifted" but there is too much empty space in the heading area. How do I shrink the size of the template boxes for the header, etc.

2.) I would like two navigation bars. One at the top and one on the side. Both are containing different links. How do I add a second navigation bar?

Hi Andrea

As far as changing the overall template, there should be a place for you to "Edit the HTML" of the template. Inside the code there is probably a table width that is set at 100% or some value. Try decreasing that value to see if that

It's been a while since I used Website Tonight so it may have changed a bit but from what I remember you have to edit the overall template and there is a way to do that.

Worst case, email support@secureserver.net and they can better assist you.

As far as adding another nav, I believe you just click on the area where you want the nav to go and edit that way. Now if there is not currently a spot/placeholder for a nav button then you have to again go into the HTML and edit the code.

Hi Lisa,

Thank you for your speedy response. I found the html link but it will only allow you to change the html for the test boxes. I called the customer service line and they will not allow you to change the templates anymore and you cannot look at the html for the entire page. It's amazing how much there is to know but it is good to be learning this.

You really have been wonderful with your website and your YouTube videos. They have really helped me out a great deal. Cannot thank you enough.

Oh OK, well glad you got some help. I don't know why I thought you could also edit the entire layout but I guess that makes sense because if you somehow changed the width of the entire layout and the images no longer fit or the design got out of whack, then that would create a whole other set of problems.

And that could be why they removed that feature.

It's true there's a lot to learn. And once you get comfortable with the basics of Website Tonight, you may decide to upgrade to a more basic host where you can have more control over the layout.
