I would like to know how I can get the icons for html files and shtml files to be different in my html editor so that they are easily distinguishable from each other.
I use Coffee Cup and when I used IE as my primary web browser, the html files had the IE icon and the shtml had the text document icon.
Now that I use Firefox, they all have the Firefox icon and I find it rather annoying trying to remember which files are html versus shtml since they all have to be in the same folder together.
I don't believe there is anything you can do to change how the browser shows the icons for the files within CoffeeCup.
When you're in CoffeeCup, can you organize/display files by extension name (html vs shtml)? Or maybe they have a feature that allows you to categorize all your files?
I am not sure if this is something you would like to start doing, but you can also use a folder for ear tier 2 of your website.
Do you still want the shtml files to be opened in a text editor (I'm assuming Notepad)? If so, can you right-click the SHTML file (not while you're in CoffeeCup but navigate to an SHTML file through your C drive) and then select "Open With...." and choose Notepad (or whatever you want the default program to be) so it now shows the appropriate icon again?
So basically what's happened is FireFox has made it the default for all those file types. You may also be able to turn this off by going to the FireFox Preferences menu.

Thanks for the responses. I did manage to figure out a way to get Coffee Cup to show only html files or only shtml files - duh, it was right there all the time and I never noticed it!
They all still have the same icon, but at least now I can get the ones that I am not currently using out of the way.
