Default Landing Page

I am using Wordpress with Thesis and would like to add a landing page, in fact a few landing pages.

I have seen some plug-ins for Thesis offering Landing pages and I'm debating if that is the way to go.

My first inclination was to set up a separate site for the landing pages that I can just link to.

I haven't seen any information on this topic but would love to find out how others are doing this. And get a feel for what's working.

Thanks.

Default a little...

Since I am not using Wordpress (yet) I won't deal with the technical side of this. Hopefully some others will jump in here. But I can see one area forf you to consider; it would be the primary concern for me.

How would your pages relate to the theme of the blog? Not all pages on a given site need to be Wordpress just because some are, obviously, and many times the Wordpress blog is either a subdomain or a subfolder of a site. So you can easily host them on the one site with or without a plugin.

But this is the real issue. If the subject of the blog and the landing pages are closely related and should be integrated by reason of content, I would think it a good idea. Otherwise, not.

You might want to check out berchman.com. He has a lot of great Thesis tutorials. I learned how to customize my homepage for Thesis thru him.

Steve,

I hope you found Lisa's suggestion helpful on the technical side.

Conceptually and from a marketing standpoint, I agree with James. If the landing page is related to the website, I think it should definitely be included on the same website (do not create another website for landing pages). This is especially important if you plan to promote the landing pages with PPC.

Thanks, I had planned on designing the landing page to match the blog but I didn't consider PPC in doing this.
The Berchman site has some great information that I will be incorporating.
My thinking was to have one landing page site for my two blogs so I could have a centralized place to work from.
I'm going to concentrate on incorporating the landing page into my blog, thanks for the tips.
