Default Student Website Creation

Was bouncing around Craigslist the other night, when I came across someone advertising FREE website creation. As it turns out, our local college has graduated or will be graduatiing some students whom have studied such things.

Not sure if it is the same kid or if their are several, but they want to offer their services free, in order to establish a portfolio of work samples. I think it's a great idea, for someone just entering this lousy job market, to build up their resume.

I find this intriguing and have sent an email out. As I am in the process of creating my site, I thought I would give it a go and see what they can come up with.

I will post any results here...Interested in others thought on this method.

Isn't that sad. Now a day you look around the corner and there's a scammer..... It is really rewarding to be kind, truthful, and honest.

Yeah, that's sad. But doing free sites is not a bad idea. I have done several free sites and it has benefited me in different ways. If you are new to the biz, it can help you get to know how to work with different clients and develop policies to keep from being taken advantage or just work more efficiently. Because it is free, you can put your own Google search at the top of the site if you want to and advertise your own site in the footer. They pay for the domain and hosting fee up front.

Didn't mean to say all of this... Sorry, it's been a few days since I last posted. Must be withdrawal symptoms from my WB addiction.

I agree with alpha. The advertisement that comes from this can be a great advantage with the back links. 90% of my customers don't mind at all that I have a little created by link in the footer.

I totally agree with all of you but...What I thought was a lone student seeking to build a website to add to his portfolio was nothing more, than some sort of website mill, selling hosting. I guess I should have known better, as it was posted on Craigslist.

There is one other forum I go on and this is very common on their because allot of people who have just started in web design want to build their portfolio's. Its a shame that was a scam but don't let that put you off as many people will do it for free to add to their portfolio. I have seen allot of websites that have been done for free by designers and they are always really nice because its representing the designer. Be careful as some of these people will ask you to put some sort of link to their website in order to have it done for free.

Im going to try and find someone looking to build a logo portfolio but if I can't find someone I will just pay for it lol.
