    Default Web hosting template!

    Hello everyone,

Concept Skateboarding is now paying for it self which is great, most of all i love learning from it. I got my first affiliate sale of $11 yesterday from a click bank product so its doing ok. When i say my next project i don't mean im moving on from Concept and i never will im going to be working on it harder than ever before.

Right so i have been looking in to my next project which will be a web hosting site (i understand the competition is huge in this market) im going to get the website perfect before i purchase re-seller hosting and a domain name.

I have been looking in to buying a template to start this website and im stuck between 4 templates. All are full sites and use CSS 3 are flash templates (html included) and 1 is a "static site" what exactly do they mean by this? fixed? im guessing they mean it doesnt move lol

    http://www.templatemonster.com/websi...tes/23879.html

    http://www.templatemonster.com/websi...tes/23293.html

    http://www.templatemonster.com/websi...tes/23607.html

    http://www.templatemonster.com/websi...tes/20391.html

I would love to here what template everyone likes more, There all around the same price. My personal favorite is template 23607, i think the layout and color scheme is really nice. Every template has a external style sheet and will look the same in the main browsers (so he said)

I would love to hear your honest opinions on buying from template monster, im a little scared about how complicated there coding will be.

If i do buy a template im going to upload it to my concept domain to test it etc and edit it offline untill its perfect. Im going to host concept under that package if its possible and learn everything about WHM before advertising.

    Just a couple of questions:

    - what do you think of the template?
    - Is it a good or stupid idea?
    - Does anyone have any experience with the HostGator re-seller program?
    - Could i host concept skateboarding on a re-seller package at no extra cost?

    Thanks a lot everyone

    Jack

The template is not bad at all. But look at all the satisfaction you got from building your concept site. My next one from you is with all the competition out there for hosting. Do you have a game plan for selling your hosting? Yes you can transfer your concept site across. The other thing to keep in mind for reselling is that you have enough money to pay for the hosting. In other words if you only get one or two customers for a while make sure you have enough money to cover it for as long as your customers have signed a contract with you. There could be legal ramifications other wise.

Well since it's done in Flash, I'm glad there is also an HTML/CSS version for people who cannot view the Flash version for whatever reason (although I realize that's fewer and fewer people these days). I wasn't able to view the full template (site was down).
http://osc.template-help.com/wt_23879/index.html but I saw the preview on templatemonster.

I think the template is very slick, but the first thing I noticed was that it's a great template for a product site but I'm not sure I like it for a content-rich site. The 3 columns seem very narrow. So I guess it depends on what kind of site you are going to use this template for. Of course you could always change the column widths so that's not a big deal I suppose.

Thanks a lot for both of your replies!

Yeah i have all the idea's in my head, im not going to upgrade to the re-seller program until i have the website/logo ready localy and the domain name purchased. Im going to write a business plan as well really concentrating on the marketing plan. Yeah thats a really good point, i wouldn't ever cancel the package with customers if i ever had to i would give them at least a months notice. The thing is the extra price really isn't to much of a problem for me and it gives me something else to work on. Skateboarding is my passion i love making the website, i actualy end up getting distracted from time to time on my own site watching the videos....i guess its a good thing really. So if its making money or not im always going to work on it thats why i havent writen a business plan for it. But for this hosting company im going to do solid research and write a detailed business plan.

    Lisa

Yeah from what i have read about flash im not its biggest fan but i think it's a really nice touch on a web hosting site. Is there the visitor can be re-directed to the html version if they don't have flash? i have read about something like that before. Yeah they seem to be having problems with that today i would like to view it full screen before buying it. I have used the demo of WHM and it seems easy enogth my question is can you add accounts for free or do they have to be added under a package? because of course i would like to add concept to my program it would also be a good way to practise. Lisa im not sure if you use HostGator for yours but im also wondering if i can set up promotions like free trials etc. Thanks

Yeah thats true i have just found another template that looks pretty good, its a close call.

    http://www.templatemonster.com/websi...tes/23607.html

I think this one might look nicer. I know i should have but i found a template monster template free online to test it on my domain and here it is.

    http://www.conceptskateboarding.com/hosting/8576.html

EDIT: One thing that does concern me is that on the html preview a lot is missing i assume this is because they use images under the flash? so without the flash its left with plain images? So im guessing i could edit the images in photoshop?

    Thanks for your help!

Most of the time yes you can edit the images and add or subtract them as needed. One way to do the flash and Html combo is by doing the flash in a overlay. If you look at my coseodesigns my tree is flash layed on top of html. The main reason I did this was so it could be crawled easier by bots. Keep in mind bots don't read flash. Here is a great tool for seeing your site just as the bots do. http://www.delorie.com/web/lynxview.html This will help to make sure it all works.

Sorry for the delay I have been swamped with everything. Ty for the compliment on the navigation. Easiest tool I have found for working with flash is called SW!SH

    http://www.swishzone.com/index.php

Pretty simple to use and compared to Adobe very cheap at 100 dollars.

That is a very nice and clean template. I do have a question on it. Why is the whole right side of the banner a hyperlink? It looks like a single image there is that correct?

Woo everything is going well for me at the moment with regards to my new site, i bought my new domain today sequencehosting.com i had a lot of trouble coming up with a domain since most of them are taken! I have almost finished creating the website now! and im upgrading to reseller hosting tomorow and moving concept as a add on domain.

I have learnt a lot about photoshop since starting this new project that im going to have to work on my concep logo lol.

All i have to do is make my logo look better add my content (Microsoft Word at the moment) sign up for re selling and then set everything up publish and test test test test lol.

Just a quick question, i have been looking at WHM control panel and i understand it all but im wondering how i set up the order now buttons etc? im sure i will find out tomorow but im wondering if anyone has any tips/advice on this. I have already seen web hosting sites using this.

The website is looking great. I used a template from template monster and its great i managed to edit parts of the code to get it just right. I didnt use includes as i don't expect this site to have many pages unlike concept.

After i have tested everything im going to write a business plan so i don't loose track of my goals.

    Im so excited!

I don't have an answer to your question, Jack but I just had to comment on your great enthusiasm. It's clear you are enjoying the ride and that's what will take you far out here. Keep up the great work and keep having fun, my friend.
