If you have anything of a medical nature or health related, you will need a disclaimer saying that people should consult their own medical professionals and that kind of thing. So if your site has anything whereby people could hurt themselves, you need to state its just information and not to be acted upon without expert advice.
You should also put up some "sticky" posts or links regarding your self promotion policy. Will you allow signatures? Can people post links to their sites in the body of the posts, etc?

Also remember that most forum scripts have pre-written disclaimers that basically say you are not liable and don't necessarily endorse the opinions of those who post on your forum. Of course, you can change the wording anyway you wish. For example, vBulletin has this on the sign-up page before you register.

We have made a special section for advertising or linking on the site..
we also have a group section similar to facebook so they can get more millage out of the site...
