Google Analytics

This is a bit of a stupid question but i have got one code from Anlytics and i have put it on my index page, if i add it to all my pages will it be able to show me stats on each page? or do i need a different code for each page?

Hi Jack,

This is not a stupid question. Analytics can be a little confusing at first.

Add the same code to all the pages. When you login, it will show how many visits, bounces, etc, to each of the pages.

A bit of an update.

I added the code to all of my pages using a php include, works perfect and i understand now.

You can add it to every page, but if you have a "footer.php" file you can just enter the code into that file only and it will track every page when it's loaded... if you're using Wordpress that's the quickest way... don't even need a plugin... same with other CMS scripts/programs that have footer files...

Believe it or not i still have a lot of video pages to add to my site but there is one thing i would rather get sorted out across my site first and thats Google Analytics, it still isnt working. I put it as a include on my website if you look at the souce on any of my pages you will be able to see it at the bottom of the page.

Im not sure why its not working. Any ideas?

In your Google Analytics account... did you put a ==> / <== at the end of your URL? I ran into that problem a couple of times cause I kept forgetting to put that slash in at the end of the URL... then test it again in your account... see if it starts retrieving data...

Thanks for your reply, the thing is it says its recieveing data, well it has the green tick next to my url. Hmm im going to investigate this some more.

Should i delete the code i have at the moment add a new profile to my analytics and put.

conceptskateboarding.com/

It will only take me a few minutes to do this across my site.

I deleted the profile then re-created another and put the new code in the php file and now its working perfectly.

I never even thought about just adding it to the header or the footer file in wordpress. makes sence since every page load it will load the header and the foot. thanks for the tip.

Yeah i didn't know about that as well untill i made this thread. Just goes to show what you can learn from this forum.

If i didn't add it too the file it would have taken me hours to replace the script on every page.
