Default Im thinking ahead, web hosting company?

Hello everyone,

Im so impressed with how well my skateboarding website is going and how easy it is to now maintain. By the end of this week it should be ready for my marketing efforts. I have been thinking about my next project at the moment and i have decided on a web hosting company (reseller account). I understand its a saturated market and i understand it wont be easy but im enjoying the process of websites at the moment im going to do it for the fun i get not money.

I know Lisa has huge experience in this and uses HostGator, im using HostGators standard baby webhosting package at the moment and have a few questions.

- Would i be able to set up concept skateboarding with my reseller account? so i will be paying $23 per month for the Aluminum package. If i wish to add my own website/s to my reseller account it will be just like someone buying web hosting from me? but i would set it up for free using the WHM pannel?

- It says there is a free billing system, does this mean i will have all the tools needed in the package to sell webhosting?

- On the clients control panel will i be able to add my logo to the top? Just like hostgator do?

- if someone buys a domain from my site are they set up with hostgators domain program? Do i have to pay anything towards this domain? how does the money get split with domains?

- once someone buys hosting do i see it up manualy on the control panel or is it automatic? If its manauel i would be able to offer deals like free hosting for a month? that sort of thing?

Thanks for any responses

I am a reseller but I don't use Hostgator. I use GoDaddy so I can't really comment about how it works but if it's anything like GoDaddy's you can buy your own hosting from your own store and even set your prices. Hopefully a Hostgator reseller can answer your questions.

Hi i use a reseller account with a uk company. It's cheaper (£7.99) than hostgator but I get a lot less space - only 5gb.

With the full version of WHM you can brand your own CPanel with your own logo.

You set up your own hosting plans with however much disk space, bandwidth, addon domains, no of email addresses etc you want to allocate. Adding a new domain is then a simple process simply enter the domain name, select the appropriate hosting plan, and enter the contact email address, username and password.

I've got about 30 domains hosted (about 50cents per month each!!) most are my own, a few for family and the church and few for my clients.

The billing system is separate from the hosting system so you can charge whatever you think is suitable.

Because I believe hosting and domain registration should be separate and also because of the minimal profit and the hassle involved I don't do registrations and I get my cients to register domains with 123reg.co.uk.

Towards the end of the month I check the bandwidth used by each account and either upgrade the plan if it's one of my sites or if it is a customer I contact them before their account is automatically suspended by whm.

Regards

Bob

I have so many reasons for choosing a web hosting company, Lisa your residuel income video has shown my the possibilities. Also once i created a web hosting company it will be benifitial for me to post on these forums, which is good because i love this forum so much.

hmm sorry Lisa i always assumed you used HostGator eather way im really excited by this as 2 of my friends signed up with Homestead after seeing my website so why not make my own hosting company instead? From what i have read depending on the prices you can pay of the costs with just a few clients so the profit margins are high.

Donk thats very usefull information, thanks a lot. Oh thats great thats exactly what i wanted to do adding my own logo to the C Panel.

If my maths doesnt lie you make $15 a month from hosting the domains? thats pretty good going, since the £ value is falling you must be making profit just about?

Right so you only currently offer the hosting? I think thats smart, i understand how the hosting but domains raises a lot of problems. I may refer my customers to GODaddy for domains or someone like that.

Ok Bob that makes a lot of sense. Thanks a lot for the info.

Its a pretty small world since you live in Medway, crazy.

Take care i will carry on looking in to this.
