Default What Happens when..

What happens when you have had a name for your website for about 5 months now, and then you all of the sudden just google'd it and there are other sites with that name? As long as you have different content and stuff on your website is it okay to still use that name?

Thanks.

If the name is not copyrighted/trademarked then you should be OK.

Generally speaking titles and names cannot be copyrighted. That is why you will see article titles and often even book titles duplicated by different authors. This is not so great, especially with books I think, but that's the way it is.

Of course your domain name cannot be duplicated. So if you are fortunate enough to have your business name and domain name the same it is a real advantage (as with the title of this forum). That way you have the advantage if someone does use your name because anyone typing in the name with the .com would get you even if looking for them.
