Default Keyword for a Site Map?

Hi everyone,

I haven't created a site map for my site yet, but it's something I'd like to do soon.

Can I use a keyword for the site map? For example, I'd like to use the keyword "walking articles" because it has a fair amount of demand and because all of my pages basically are walking articles.

But is that a no-no as far as the SEs are concerned?

Thanks and have a great weekend!

Hi NewMama,

I'm not sure I understand. Are you talking about an XML sitemap (like you'd submit to Google) or just a regular sitemap that lists your pages and where your visitors will go to see what's on your site?

If it's the latter, then you would setup that page like any other web page. So I guess I'm confused when you say "can I use a keyword"? Do you mean for your meta tags?

It's awfully difficult to target a certain phrase on a sitemap because sitemaps generally have links to several different pages on your site. So I don't usually worry too much about keyword optimizing those kinds of pages.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding you.

Default Thanks!

Lisa,

I was referring to the second sitemap you described and you answered my question perfectly! I can now see why you wouldn't have a keyword because the page is a set of links to your other pages.

Thank you!
