Which autoresponder to use?
I am trying to decide on an autoresponder. I would like to find something very affordable, free would even be better. Which autoresponder do you use, why and how much does it cost?
Thanks in advance,
Leah

Welcome Leah,
I love AWeber because of it's many features but I'm biased because it's all I've ever used. It does cost $19.95 per month, though. Maybe others have some other lower cost suggestions.

I would suggest you either use Aweber or Getresponse.
Both of these are the current leaders.
Another option would be to install an autoresponder script on your domain. Though this would save you a little money, I would recommend against it. Not only is it difficult to maintain, but also it would be a headache to troubleshoot if something goes wrong.
I would recommend Aweber and Getresponse. These are the best currently.
Getresponse costs $ 17.95/month. However, if you order for 1 year, it costs $145 ($70 off). See www.getresponse.com for more details.

The other nice thing about using one is that it reminds people to come back to your site and several of my subscribers have told their friends to subscribe. It has turned into a very viral tool for me.
Haven't quite found the gold mind with my web hosting site just yet, but I'm very pleased with the results for my fitness site.
AWeber lets you segment your list by so many different ways (date of sign up, age, whatever info you collect. ) It's very powerful and I don't use half of the features AWeber provides.

You should try sendfree.com (Not an affli-whatever link)
It's free with a twist. SendFree also acts like an advertising exchange service.
How it works: You sign up for a SendFree account and set up your autoresponder service. At the top of every automatic reply your autoresponder sends out is a short text advertisement. Half of these are for other members' sites. The other half are reserved for SendFree's advertisers. In turn, your advertisement will appear at the top of messages sent out by other members.

Free autoresponder
I just signed up with freeautobot.com yesterday. They are totally free. They also have a free banner exchange program. I have not figured out how to incorporate it yet though. I'm going to try the tutorial suggested by ncaditya.

Is Autoresponder Setup Generic ?
Hi everyone,
I made a huge blunder, I think. I paid for an Autoresponder program because it was cheap as compared to Aweber or GetResponse. It was recommended by a "Guru" whom I know has done well in the IM arena.
Anyway, this autoresponder program that www.ShoutResponse.com provides seems easy enough although there is no detailed Tutorial or Training that comes with it.
After churning out a simple Opt-In Form with it and appending to my website Home Page, it kept producing an Error Report when I tried using the Opt-In Form.
Is there any Generic Opt-In or List Building Checklist that I can refer to that can literally guide me to produce the necessary documents for it to work ?
I felt so cheated because my email gets no reply. I wanted to try out an Opt-In feature for my website but I can't ( by now I feel so exasperated ) and the challenges does not seem to be able to get solve. Should I be patient for awhile or terminate the plan as soon as possible, in your opinion ?
Sigh !

I know that everybody is giving thumbs up to Aweber now. But I wonder what was used before they started their system?

I believe in the beginning a majority of people like me tried some so called Free Autoresponder that gives you a leeway to utilize it but the Advertisement itself seems to be Louder than your Messages.
Anyway, thanks for the reference, mirage2009
Cheers !

Hi William,
Do they have support you can contact? Maybe they can shed light on the problem. If you have a hard time with getting their help or if they are not helpful, I would recommend terminating it. For me, nowadays, support is crucial, because issues are bound to come up.

Hi morgan,
Thanks for the reply. I guess you are correct, I have decided that by this weekend if it is still not resolved, I will terminate the account.
Should have gone for Aweber, wasted almost $12 for nothing !
Cheers !

Not for naught.
$12 is not much of a cost for learning a good lesson so it is not "all for nothing."
Aweber is really good. Even though the size of my business through Aweber is to date small, I recognized from the beginning of my interest in web work that using an excellent service in this area (more than anywhere else) was worth the cost and set it up right away. Aweber not only has a good program, they provide some good educational material as well.
The obvious benefits are there such as assuring that you have complete opt in and opt out features to protect you from getting an association with spammers. But there are other benefits too.
For example, one I like is that when you prepare a mailout it is scored for filter blocking. This includes pointing out specific words or phrases that would be picked up and causing your email to be blocked or trashed so you can make corrections before mailing. Great stuff.

Ya, you're right James, a painful lesson with a small price indeed
By now I already have concluded that most serious marketer are utilizing Aweber as their autoresponder.
I may have to migrate just to get started.
Cheers !
