My site should be ready in a few days.. but for one of my pages I wanted to to have links on it so that .. visitors can click on that and go to the site.. Do I need permission from these sites to put them on my page.. just for linking??

Not really. Most people appreciate the free link but if it makes you feel more comfortable you can always ask.

As Lisa has already said most sites welcome links back to them, it means more traffic to there site for free, so it is pretty much a free gift to them.

However, if you are linking to a site similar to yours you may send a message to them like this

Of course if you are linking to msn.com they most likely will not link back to you but if you are linking to sites of regular folks, you will be suprised how many sites will respond to an inquiry like this and then you can enjoy the extra traffic from there links as well!
