Organization
They say that cluttered desk is the sign of genius. Well, if that's true, then I'm an Einstein! Does anyone use anything like http://www.voo2do.com/ to help keep organized? It looks interesting, but I wonder if it's more trouble than it is worth. I heard about this from joining that free 8 week - 16 step plan that the ASC people (Sam Clark & Jack Humphrey) are hosting.

Seems like a very cool and hip way to stay organized. Although it seems like it will take a little getting used to, it may be worth it, especially if you don't already have a system to stay organized.
If you are going to try it, please share your experiences here
Thanks for sharing.

I didn't look at it in depth, but on first glance it looks very similar to Microsoft's OneNote, which came with Office in the laptop I got for Xmas.
At first I didn't pay much attention to OneNote, but about two weeks ago or so I checked it out and Holy Cow...it is fantastic! I love it. It is sort of like a notebook or scrapbook with dividers and pages not online but on my computer...that I can put anything I want into and organize however I want.
YOu can set up as many notebooks as you want....I have one set up specifically for my website. Then there are the dividers. I have a bunch for different areas of the project...content ideas, how to write ideas, a to-do list by page, etc. Once in a divider you can add pages and each page is titled what you want with a tab with the names of your pages down the riight side of your screen so you can easily find what you want...so, for example, I have a page titled Home Page To-Do, and when I create more pages I will set up a page for each website page with unfinished items. I think is is more complicated to explain than it is.
At any rate, I love it...if I find a great post I know I will want to refer to again, I copy and send to OneNote (it is an option when you print, choose your printer or onenote). See info written on a website I like? I copy and put on a page in oneNote. and anything you put in can be sent to print as well. I have been able to keep some great ideas for writing and content put away that knowing me (yes, I can be disorganized and my desk probably looks like yours) I would never have beeen able to find again.
As I said, this looks like a similar concept except online.

I remember OneNote. I got a trial copy of it several years ago (maybe when it first came out) and I really liked it, but then that laptop died, and it didn't come with my current laptop.
I do remember there were a few bugs, though, but it sounds like they've been worked out.
The nice thing is that with OneNote (over voo2do) is that it's on your hard drive, so you don't have to be conntected/save everything on the internet, like Jewel pointed out. But Voo2do would be great if you have multiple computers (work computer, laptop, desktop, etc).
I will take another look at OneNote

True..but if you have OneNote on multiple computers, if you save your notebook in the shared network folder you can access it when you are signed into the network.
One old one I use for my real work, the new laptop I got because the old one is, well, old and not always running well, and a computer we bought about three or so years ago for the rest of the family so they would leave my work computer alone. We have networked them all so I can access most of what I need whether I am on the laptop (my SBI computer now) or my work computer.
It definitely will not work for all people...but it meets my needs. I saw a few complaints about it when I looked it up this morning, mostly mathematical and scientific note-taking complaints (I guess it is used a lot to take notes in college...you can hook up a tablet to it and actually handwrite in stuff too) but again, I like that I have been able to keep bits and pieces of information, tips, websites I want to revisit, etc., handy in one location...when I know in most cases I never would have found it again when I wanted to go back to the original source to look it up.

Oh yeah...and another thing I wasn't sure I liked about the Voo2do is it was written by an individual and they are maintaining the site. This is fine, and I want to be in support of the small individual programmer over the big megacompanies...but if something happens to him or the site, since it is online, what happens to all of your little notes and nuggets you have carefully saved over all this time.
There may be and probably is a safeguard for this built into the program...as I said, I just looked at the fiirst page and diidn't really investigate the features.
Sorry for the double ii's. I seem to have a thing with that on this keyboard and I am sick of going back and fiixing them!

I have one laptop that stays with me all day. While it's nice, sometimes I feel bad for it, because it's ON almost all day

That's a very good point concerning being able to access the organization files when not online. I may skip Voo2do just because of that. I only work on one computer. Thanks for all the info gang.
