Convert YouTube video to audio file?

Good morning everyone,

I have gotten a couple of jobs on Elance transcribing YouTube videos for people. Anyways, they were both quite time consuming because I had to keep switching screens from Word 2010 to YouTube in my web browser in order to transcribe it. Anyways, for the future, I would like to be able to convert the YouTube files to an audio file, say WAV or a MP3 file, so that I can use my transcription software and foot pedal to transcribe it. This would greatly increase the speed of transcribing YouTube videos. Anyways, does anyone know if there is a way to convert YouTube videos into an audio file. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, type "youtube2mp3" in google, that should do it :-)

You're welcome! There was one member of websitebabble who made another such service, it was working well, but now the domain name doesn't work anymore, so I didn't give you this one, instead you can find many such service on google, I've already used some youtube2mp3 sites when I wanted to have audio files to listen to while doing cardio gym and not have to download a large video file on my device.

Thanks James. That is really good to know that at least one person has given this service. That sounds like a great idea for cardio workouts. I might have to use it for that as well as I am trying to get into shape. I will do a search for this in a little while when I get a chance. This will save me a lot of time, so I am quite pleased about this. WIll let you know how it works out James. Thanks again!

Just to let you know that I found a site, searching for "youtube2mp3" on Google, that easily converts YouTube videos to MP3s! I am delighted, both for listening to YouTube videos to workout and for transcribing them. Thanks again!

Firefox has plugins where you can download YouTube videos in MP3 format. Hope this helps!
