Default The power of link building

Link building using targeted keyword(s) will improve your search engine rankings. People always say, you should build back links to your site, but fail to mention how to do it. About just 2 months ago, I was really frustrated to read people talking about keep building more and more banklinks to your site/blog to improve your search index rankings and I used to get puzzled thinking how can I put 100s of back links to my site so easily?

Let me tell you, it isn't that hard to build backlinks now a days. I will show you how to achieve 100s of back links to your site in just few weeks. I will show you how to get your site/page/blog ranked top on google search index (between page 1 and 5) within weeks. This is a proven method that worked for me and it will work you.

In less than 3 weeks, I managed to place my site on the 2nd page of google search index for the keyword "learn php". This keyword is highly competitive with over 94,500,000 pages. That's 94 million pages, which is considered a high number. The bigger this number the more competitive the keyword. So how did i do it?

1. Build trust with time: You need to put trust in google and google needs to put trust in you. If you believe your site provides valuable content and is useful to your visitors and so will google. Once google trusts your site, it will start to index your pages and will start to send you traffic slowly. People say this traffic builds over time (1 to 2 years before you start to see 1000s+ visitors) but building backlink could see this traffic build much faster.

2. Build backlinks - Contribute in forums and use signature to place link in your replies: Join a highly reputable and ranked forum in your niche. Become a regular poster and use signatures to link your site with your targeted keyword there. Over time google will start to see your links at hundreds of forums pages where you posted. This will not only increase your search engine rankings, but also give you additional traffic from the forum.

3. Build more backlinks - Contribute in blogs and use the comment section to place link to your site: Next find a high ranking blog or two in your niche, which is regularly posted and updated and has substantial amount of visitors. Become a regular poster and contributor there. Leave the link to your site using your targeted keyword in the comments. Again, google will see your links, index them, raise your search engine rankings and that will bring you even more traffic.

4. Build even more backlinks - Spam but don't spam: This is an evil method but highly important. Just go out there and spam! lol no no, don't spam at least not too much When i say spam, i mean use google to search for blogs within or close to your niche, which allow you to comment and leave a link to your site in the comments. Find at least 5 blogs/day, write useful post/reply/comments and leave your site link in your comments. Keep doing that for a week or so and watch your site's search rankings jump.

5. Lastly have patience: This will take time depending on your niche, competition and how much effort you put into it. Not everyone will have the same results it will vary. In the process you just need to find out what works for you and use it and abuse it

Hope this helped. Please share more tips and tricks that worked for you.

Nice tips Webdev. I think the important thing to remember here is to have patience. It takes time and work to eventually build good quality backlinks to your site.

Oh for sure. its does take time. My site is slowly improving in traffic like it should normally but yea it happens slowly.

These are just some of the ways you can quickly buildback links to your site. Since my site is very new (4 months only), it jumps up and down in search engine rankings a lot, so i have to keep building links to keep it up. Hopefully as you keep building more and more backlinks, sooner your site will stick to the top.

My blog is about 3 months old (since June 23), and I'm starting to finally see some traffic. I get roughly 70 visitors a day now. I find that as I add more content I get more traffic...sort of an obvious thought really.

Most of my traffic right now comes from Google. The most popular posts on my blog are usually tutorials on how to accomplish something, like securing a wireless router. With wireless becoming more popular I decided to create a few posts that target that it they have paid off with some traffic.

I am luck in some regards as Google owns Blogger, so I usually get an alert from Google that says my post is now include in their results the day after I post it.

I have 44 posts so I am slowly adding more unique content.

Good comments, I hadn't thought about posting on blogs and using my link. I will have to start doing that with blogs in my niche. I am quite a big forum poster, I was before I made my site. I have about 300 links on google from forum signatures. It has sent around 50 visitors on days where I have posted a lot.

As the tip on Blog comments is important but also new for Peter I've something to add.

Many blogs use nofollow on their outbound links by default, to prevent giving link juice to comment spam. Not sure if you know that already Peter but I'm sure others wont.

Although you will still get traffic from the blogs with nofollow you'll not have any search engine bots bouncing to your site.

You may as well get the best of both worlds when it comes to links but how do you find blogs that dont use nofollow? Funnily enough Matt Cutts (Google) suggests using ChromEdit Plus (for FireFox). See his post here.

I didn't know about no follow on blogs. Then I wonder how my rankings in google for the keyword "learn php" jumped after using blog comments to link my site? hmm...this is interesting.

Check out the blogs and see if they use nofollow. You'll find most webmaster bloggers will disable it.

Do you have Google sitemaps attached?

You can see them if you use the Firefox browser with the ChromEdit Plus Plugin installed. The plugin will highlight the links on the page that use nofollow.

Google and other search engines may still be following "no follow" tags. It is unknown to what extent they take links with no follow tags.

Someone should check it "experimentally" by creating a stand alone page and linking to it using the no follow tag from another page that sees frequent search engine spider activities. Using statcounter or something similar we will know if this page sees any spiders.

Read Interpretation by the individual search engines

Interpretation by the individual search engines

Google takes "nofollow" literally and does not "follow" the link at all. That is supposedly their official statement, but experiments conducted by SEOs show conflicting results. They show instead that Google does follow the link, but not index the linked-to page, unless it was in Google's index already for other reasons (such as other, non-nofollow links that point to the page).[8] Links with NOFOLLOW are included in the back-links reporting data at Google's Webmaster Central.[9]
