Digg strategies?
Hi there, I have heard that submitting your articles or website urls to Digg is a great way to get backlinks and popularity. My question would be how the heck do you get people to find you via Digg? What type of strategies can you employ to get the most Diggs?
Thanks

I don't use Digg much but have read a few articles about it. Since Digg doesn't have specific categories for articles, stories that have mass appeal like politics, iPod, economy, pop culture, etc. tend to do best overall. That's not to say you cannot get seen here, however. I remember reading once that someone got a flood of traffic from Digg because his article got "Dugg" by someone that had a lot of "Digg friends". So if you happen to get noticed by a Digg user that has a large audience then that can bring you a quick flood of traffic.
I've gotten some traffic from Digg but it tends to be very low quality. Meaning the person never seems to stick around long and the traffic from one article tends to last a couple of hours if that.

Yeah digg does give some good rush of traffic but quality of traffic depends on what your topic is. Generally entertainment related websites can get some descent quality traffic from digg or even money making ideas type things...

Digg is a good source of traffic. You can also get backlinks from it. Recently, however, Digg removes its shout feature, argh.

I heard that Digg doesn't like SEO. By that I mean Digger don't like people who use the site for SEO purposes. Is that true?

You can probably add those little icons on your site, like Digg it! This would help people bookmark you easily, thus adding to your PR and all.

Digg is all about popularity effect. The more popular your content is the more traffic you get. Converting that traffic into money however can be very tricky. Digg is a good source of backlink building but be careful of the pit falls. Digg users are overly opinionated and can flame a site very quickly, plus if you make it to the front page you may face the Digg effect, where a sudden swarm of users cripple a website. If you are sitting on a $7.95 a month shared hosting, expect your site to crash and a call from your hosting company!
