Default Wow! My links SHOT up!

I use a website to check my back links. Last week I was at 12 then I check again today and I'm at 342! Is this even possible or is something stuffing up on the website I use to check my back links?

I just checked and got a result of 21 so it looks like you had an error, unfortunately.

Hmm which method did you use to check my links Alan?

I'm getting quite a few websites that say I'm in the 300s.

http://seopro.com.au/free-seo-tools/link-checker/
http://www.iwebtool.com/backlink_che...ooeasytech.net
http://www.smartpagerank.com/pageran...net&results=50

All say 342.

I used this:

http://www.submitexpress.com/linkpop/

Edit:

Oh, I see what's happening: the check I did is only showing certain SE links whereas yours is including all your forum links, etc. So yours is right as far as total links I assume.

I didn't realise the SubmitExpress thing was doing it that way...

Oh, well spotted! Wasn't sure why it was doing things differently, but that explains it.

And a bonus if that's more accurate and it's actually 792 instead of 342

Right! For some reason it gives a separate value to the two. That’s why it’s important to choose a URL and stick with it!

As far as search engines are concerned a site with www and the same site without the www are two different sites.

amjonathan is right, stick with only one url to promote.

I like that one! Seems to be pretty accurate. The page views for my site is way off though. I don't get 583 a day! I wish.

Anyone know where it is getting the page view information?

As I understand, a vast quantity of the incoming links can be "crap links", which are scavenged automatically by many Youtube or Dmoz clones that exist today. They have a insignificant value, since those pages have not good PR, neither have good traffic, and neither they mean that someone is interested in your site, since the link was put by a spider. A site with 3000 incomig links can have PR 2 and 20 visitors per day. So quantity is not all the story.
