How long does it take to get PageRank?
I'm just wondering, how long does it take to get PageRank and how can we get a higher PageRank?

sujith.it,
In addition to continue building your website and getting more backlinks, I think the most important factor (from my personal experience) is "time". Just be patient, and the PR will increase over time.
Honestly, though, I wouldn't bother with PR too much.

I agree with Sherif. I think a lot of people think a higher PageRank means an increase in traffic, and in my experience, my PR increased AFTER I started getting more traffic from other sources. It's also not a very good indicator of how much traffic you have or will get in the future. 2createawebsite used to have a PR of 5 for a couple of years and in recent years went down to a 4. However my traffic is double what it was when it had a higher PageRank years ago.
While I do monitor PageRank, Alexa, etc. from time to time, I don't really put much emphasis on it because it's not the best indicator of success/traffic. Yes, my PR has gone down one point in recent years but my organic search engine traffic is way up, and I'm OK with that because the traffic is what really counts.

PR is usually updated every 3 months. If you want to build your PR, content would be an important factor. Unique, useful and relevant content would pave way for organic linking once other sites sees the value in your site and decide to link to you.
You can also build more dofollow backlinks from directories, forums, blogs, SB sites as they all help in PR building in the long run.

I try not to put too much stock in PageRank (or Alexa ranking for that matter). My blog is currently a PR3, but I get increased traffic from Google each month. While it's nice to see your PageRank increase, I would concentrate on your content as that is what will get you the visitors.

It may not be THAT important, but it sure has been fun watching my PR jump a few million points every month. It just so happens that my traffic has doubled at the same time. I'm sure it's just coincidence though. But like I said, it sure is fun to watch it for the first time.
