I have been in negiations with a major site in the poker world. Here is the situation.

I was approached on Monday of this week with an offer to partnership with them. The person speaking on behalf of this website wanted to place links on my site about the World Series of Poker. In exchange I wanted Learn to Win Holdem to be placed on the FIRST page of their fairly large poker directory which has a PR5.

The person negotiating got back with yesterday and agreed to place my site on the first page of the poker directory (this site gets several thousand visitors a day). Now here is the catch. He said that the link to my site would an "in direct link". My question is what is an "indirect link". Now he wants to place links on my homepage pointing to their site.

I don't know if this is a good move for me or not. Yes I'll get some traffic, but I don't like placing links to another site on my homepage without getting at least some kind of monetary value out it. Need some input please.

I don't blame you for having reservations for placing someone else's link on your homepage. I generally charge for anything like that. I would ask him/her what they mean about indirect link. I've never heard of that.

Could it mean a "contextual" link, as in they would discreetly place a text link in some of their content and Not some big flashy banner going to your site?

Thats the only thing i can think of?
