Default Spamming Don't Work !

Let me say this: I was a spammer. When I first start writing websites many years ago, I would place my links anywhere and everywhere there's an opportunity. It didn't matter whether people were interested in my site, I placed my links out there. I didn't even realize what I was doing was a form of spamming. I just wanted everybody to get my link, hoping that will result in more traffic. As a result, I got some annoying responses in forums, telling me to stop. I was surprised and hurt. I thought I was just sharing information that I was passionate about.

It took me a while to realize that I was wasting my time. I didn't see any remarkable increase in my traffic for all the time I spent trying to get people to visit my site. It took me a while to realize the reason was that the traffic was not targeted. People aren't going to come to my site just became I tell them to; they will come because they wanted to.

Once I diverted my time to simply building content, and more content, that's when the traffic started to increase. Now close to 80% of the traffic comes from Search Engines, primarily Google. The rest comes from links from other pages.

Although I do place my website links in my signature, it is more for people to know what website I write, not to push people to click my links. I think if spammers learn this lesson, they will spend less time spamming and more time writing good content.

I totally agree with you there Tim. Good content is king, however, one must be careful not to submit to no-follow sites! The more content you write, the more people will realize their originality.

On 2CreateAWebsite it says exactly the same thing.
No one likes that spam. It said developing good creditibility with forum users was the important part.
Besides, the SE's are alot smarter, and they Know people use forums to increase their links.
