Default What's a good, Inexpensive Image Editor?

I've been using fotoflexer, but its very very limited. I would like one that does not take up a lot of space on hd, cause I'm close to capacity. A new computer is on my goals list, but for now have to deal with it. I need something intuitive, cause I get intimidated easily when lots of jargon is used. I just need an easy point and click kind of photoeditor that is not very expensive and will let me create banners with effects and animations, or even just static. Does such a thing exist?

Thanks.

Hi CSSadmin

I have been using PhotoImpact 6 as my editor for several years. I think they are up to PhotoImpact 11 now, but what I have works wonders for me. I think it is running about $60 or less now.

Have you considered using an external HD until you can get a new pc?

thank you. i will google that. i do have an external hd, and have moved everything to it, but yet, i added a new printer this week, and when it went to run the software, it said there is not enough memory. plus there are cache problems. i am constantly getting messages about virtual memory being low. i don't know how to open up my comp and take things out and put new things in... plus this thing is on its last leg. i dont want to invest too much into it.

thanks so much for the lead on the software

You may also want to look at GIMP (http://www.gimp.org/). I haven't used myself, but many people love using it. Best of all - it's free!

I use and really like GIMP.

Also, Lisa's recent blog post might also be helpful to you http://blog.2createawebsite.com/2008...shop-for-free/

if i wasnt on a computer that got slowed down so much, the photoeditorexpress looks like a really great option but unfortunately, when i tried going there it did the same thing fotoflexer and ebay do to me which is grind my comp to a halt before eventually it shuts my browser down entirely.

i'm dl the trial version of the photoimpact.

the other problem is that i need to be able to add text. i don't know if photoimpact will allow it or not? i'm trying to create banners and headers and buttons.

thanks so much for all your suggestions.

It will. You can do almost anything you can do with the larger products and it is relatively small is size. I hope it works for you.

You may have too many programs running in the background. Stopping those unnecessary programs may buy you some time.
