last question.. banners.

ok, i had a good tutorial about making a "top" banner, aka for the sites logo ,etc, but lost it, and unable to find it, would any of you know? yes, i use photoshop :P

im about to load a gun, and shoot my self :/ that tutorial doesnt help at all, mainly as #1 it talks about PS 5.6.7, not CS (which im using, dunno if thats bad :/) and #2 i TOTALLY dont understand how layers work at all, and it explains nothing about how they work >_<

i cant even figure out how to for example, take 2 layers (1 pure black, 1 pure red) and figure out how to cut them into shapes with each other :/

Please don't shoot yourself. LOL I wish I could be of more help but I mainly use PS for resizing and doing very minor things. I've never created a header before and don't do much with layers. Maybe someone else can help.
