Video Recording Software

What is a good decently cheap or free video recording software for me and my friends to make videos in video games?

The videos are going to be posted into a website I am trying to make.

For video game recording you can use the build in feature that Xfire has. I'm sure you have heard of it being a gamer and all. I have not tried it myself but I hear it's decent and free.

One of the most popular alternatives for in-game screen capture is FRAPS which is 37$ @ fraps.com. Also don't forget you have to have a decent PC in order for it not to lag when you are recording.

I haven't tried the video feature on xfire either, I'll try that out and I'll check out Fraps. Thanks.

I use CamStudio to record all of my video tutorials. It was completely free and does not have any advertisments included. I also downloaded a codec to up the video quality (also free). It works grat and the videos are very clear. I highly recommend this tool.

Yea I've heard of CamStudio, but I am mainly looking for something to record while playing games. I tried the video feature in Xfire. Its simple which is good and its not too bad, I might use that unless I find something!

Seems I read somewhere that CamStudio Lossless is good for video games. Use the speakers, not the mic.

I downloaded CamStudio today and it's really cool. I would like to know, however, how to compress the files. I was sending some that I made via email and the smallest was 3mb. Any suggestions?

I m using camtasia studio software for making my 3d tutorials. You can also edit your recording in that. its really helpful to capture screen, Recommended.
