Image Searches
I just found out that my site was found by google 177 this month because of one of my images.
I just wanted to encourage everyone to name those images with key words and also give them an alt text.
Has anyone else seen this trend on their site? Can't believe I've been working so hard on my content and one of my images is bring in more traffic on that page.

Yeah it is amazing. Once and a while I'll check my stats and see the referrals coming in from google images. Although I must admit I slip up and forget to name a lot of them. Good reminder to do so.

Sorry for this question, but I'm new to web-design
You do add key words and alt text to images when you upload them to your server Thanks everyone!
This seems like an important thing to know!

the only way I know is adding them when you put them in the layout, it's easy using a software like dreamweaver because it asks you to insert an alt tag when adding the image.

In order to get those 177 hits do you need to enable that enhanced image search feature on webmaster tools? I haven't ever enabled it, but if it will bring traffic, I'm all over it.

Google images have sent me quite a lot of traffic!
If you go to Google images and type in garden ponds you will find my images are #1, #7, and #17 on the first page!
If you do a search in Google for garden ponds, on the first page just before the first listing you will see some images and mine is #1.
It is very easy to win with images!
I just wish that I could win with my other traffic building projects.
If you wish to learn how to do this just ask me.
I can even find out if you can win with your keyword.

How to win with Google images!
#1
First you need a keyword focused page.
We all have keyword focused pages, but is the keyword a word that people would type into images?
So lets call this keyword Egypt and we create this keyword focused page.
People would type this into images looking for pictures about Egypt.
#2
All the other post above are correct you need to use a keyword for your image.
So let’s call the keyword Egypt for this image.
#3
Then place that image near a headline that contains the keyword Egypt.
#4
In your alt tag use the keyword Egypt also.
Something like (A great picture of Egypt.)
#5
Then go to webmaster tools and enhanced image search for your site.
#6
This is the easy part!
Can you win with that keyword of Egypt?
Just go to Google images and search for pictures of Egypt.
When view the properties of the #1 picture.
If that person has not used the keyword of Egypt then you will win for that keyword!
It may take a little time but you will be #1 for that keyword in Google images.
If there are 4 pictures with the keyword of Egypt then you just might be picture #5
#7
This should work for any keyword.
My images are #1 and I get 500 to 600 visitors per month this way.

Images with your domain name
Yes...I get tons of image visitors from google. If you do an image search on google for "butterfly bush" you will see the photo of my butterfly bush.
One more good tip...be sure to add your domain name on the image itself. Just like I did. It's also a good way to keep people from stealing your images.
You can do this with almost any type of graphic program.

I put names and Alt tags in my pictures but Google is not giving them importance, I actually can't find them!
