Copyright Issues??????
Hello, was wandering what is some of the worries I should be aware about when comes to Copyright videos.
I would like to start a website posting different videos, I find on youtube, metacafe, etc... that I think are interesting to discuss and write about. If I provide a source of where I get these videos from, am I clear to post as I please?
thank you!

When owners of videos publish them on YouTube, they are given the option to enable or disable the EMBED code for their videos. The embed code is the HTML code that is displayed at the side of a video, allowing others to insert the video into their sites or blog.
So as long as the EMBED option is on, you are free to post the video on your site. If it's a YouTube video, the owner is already linked as soon as you posting the video. Because if the user clicks the video, they are redirected to the owners YouTube page. It also shows in the owners stats what sites have linked their video.

If the people who posted those videos have allowed the "embed" code to be visible, they are giving you permission to put them on your site.
Edit: Oops, too slow!

Thanks for all the advice!!
now does the owner of these videos have ability to remove their video as they please, even though I have the video on my site?
And also I'm big on reviews and previews of certain things like video clips, songs, albums, movies, etc... and by doing this, does it hurt me in anyway, like my chances of getting affiliates ads and such, if I'm discussing about there product in not a good light?
Also is the embed code the only way to know if its OK?
Can I get a commission of some sort for directing them (the viewer) to there homepage where the video is based, if they choose to double click the video, as you say directs them to the source, when it comes to YouTube videos?
Thank you, for your time and help!

Yes, they can remove the video. It wouldn't disappear from your site, but if clicked, it would say "this video has been removed" or words to that effect.
Someone else will probably help with your other questions, but back to the copyright issue: Something I didn't think of when reading your original question is that there's a lot of stuff posted by people on YouTube that they don't own the copyright to, and a lot of those videos are disabled. In the music and video fields, there's certainly a lot of that. So although you can embed a video in your site, that doesn't mean it's supposed to be on YouTube in the first place.

Ok so what type of position am I put in, if I happen to embed a video from someone who doesn't actually own it in the first place, am I accountable for using that video?
And also, for my other questions, where would you suggest I post those questions to get feedback from, is this thread not suitable for those questions?
srry, my grammer and spelling is horrible!
Thanx!

It sounds like you may be. Here are a couple articles that discuss it; one is from 2007 but the other seems more recent.
One article
Another article
I hope these help; I haven't read them completely myself.

Youtubes terms of use say that cluster video sites have specific perimeters that you must stay within.
It would be a good idea to read all of the fine print. That's your responsibility to research and determine for yourself.
You never know when Google might just decide to start slapping cluster video sites. It would be a shame to invest hundreds of hours into building a website that is in direct violation of Youtubes terms of use and get slapped.

As long as the embedding codes are there and not withheld from the user it is perfectly fine. Use custom scrips to build rotating embedding is the best way.
I doubt Google would ever slap on violations for that because the whole point of sharing the videos would be obsolete and competition would go back to a monopoly at youtube.

Awesome. Thought so just making sure. You don't have to include their name or anything else? Just slap the video on?
