Default Firefox vs IE re SBI Brainstorm It

I'm strongly considering signing up with SBI (once I get my site concept situation sorted out) and have been looking at action.guide.sitesell to get a kind of preparatory overview of what to expect with SBI so as to kind of hit the ground running. Quite early on it recommends downloading Firefox as apparently Brainstorm It works better with it than Internet Explorer.
Not having any kind of tech background to speak of I'm paranoid about doing this because I've been unable to find out what would actually happen if I did.
I've looked around at various reviews of Firefox and the balance of opinion seems to lean somewhat in favour of it (though maybe that's just anti microsoft bias) but I still don't actually know what the consequences would be. Would I have to remove IE first to do this? What would happen to the desktop and the various pdf files etc I've saved on my pc? In what other ways would it affect me? Would really appreciate any replies from anyone who'se with SBI and has IE or whose switched to Firefox from IE.

Read this site for more information:
http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/switch.html

There are no consequenses to switching over. The only thing that will change is your internet. None of your personal files will be messed with. You will not have to remove IE first. All you have to do is go to the website and click "download", and that's it. It's no different from downloading a newer version of IE.

Brainstorm It does go very slow with the older versions of IE, but once I downloaded IE 8, I saw a great improvement. I'm guessing the download speed will be even faster with firefox, but with IE 8 it only takes a few seconds. Before I upgraded to IE 8, I would literally walk away from my computer for about 5-10 minutes, waiting for brainstormer to refresh.

There is no reason to be paranoid about switiching to firefox. But if you really want to stick with IE, make sure you download the latest version of it and you should be fine. If you do download firefox, you can switch back to IE at any time.

I am actually switching over to firefox myself because I keep hearing rave reviews about it, and I'm just curious to see the results for myself.

Im a huge fan of Firefox! I have found Firefox to be the fastest browser and not to mension the huge list of free plugins.

I have found Firefox to be faster than the main browsers with Safari being pretty close.

Longtime IE user - until I was finally persuaded to use Firefox. My browser experience is 1000% better. Not only is it faster (and cleaner looking - but that's just opinion..) but some of the Firefox add-ons are really neat. I've got an SEO toolbar which allows me to evaluate an entire pages infomation - SEObook or SEOmoz: highly recommended!

I've been using it now for a couple of weeks or so and it definitely is quicker and easier to use though I still want to keep my IE link there.
All the best.

Yeah, you should keep your IE link available for when you need it. I actually have three browsers in my task bar: Firefox, IE, and Google Chrome.

Like Johnathan said I have Firefox, Explorer and Chrome. You can have as many browsers as you want. Those are just the three most popular. I have tired Safari and Opera but didn't keep them for long.

Start / Control Panel / Add-Remove Programs / (Uninstall) Firefox... if you don't like it.
You be back to the way it was before it was installed.... But Im betting you won't uninstall it. Like all the others... I like firefox.
