Default I need help

Hi guys

I'm new to website babble and I've read a couple of threads you guys are freaking awesome. OK I know how to get started with a website and what to do. My next step is my niche........ I'm going back and forth with it. I am a really really really big tennis fan and I love tennis and I also play tennis and win tournaments etc and know a lot about it to make a decent website on it. I want to build a Website about tennis "in the now" not necessarily how to improve your swing or anything like that but i want to build a site about everything tennis. like the tournaments, and have up to date scoring the rankings of players articles the whole nine yards. But, the website I'm thinking of i don't think could make me any money. I'm not trying to become like a millionaire, I at least want to make enough to cover my hosting fee lol or a little pocket change. Any advice is greatly appreciate. Hopefully somebody can shine a little light on me.

Couldn't you sell things like tennis equipment or t-shirts, hats, and shoes with tennis info on it (and your logo)?

Hey, don't be so quick to sell yourself so short! It certainly sounds like you have some fire under your behind for this particular topic and that my friend, is half the battle. Take your enthsiasm and knowledge, put your own "take" on the subject and go for it! It really sounds to me like you are a perfect candidate for affiliate marketing!

Did you download Lisa's ebook yet? If not, that's a great place to start. Do some research on affiliate marketing and get involved in this community. There's probably no question you could ask that could not be answered here. There are lots of ways you can (eventaully) make some money with your site as long as you stick with it and take the time to learn.

By the way...I will think of you next week (and probably curse you as well ) when Breakfast at the Open, Lunch at the Open, and Dinner at the Open take over all the shows I keep on the in background while I work.

Now get busy, you have work to do!

Good luck and much success,
Jackie

Sounds like a great idea, but I would think their would be a ton of sites listing tourneys and the like. In addition you should look for a unique perspective.

I certainly don't know where the game started or how? I don't know who the first stars were? How about a small bio of each of the grand players? Where were they born, what influenced them to get into tennis, where are they today?

What's the difference between rackets, courts, etc. of yesterday and today? What are the unique characteristics of clay vs grass? How about a section on technological advances in clothing or rackets, shoes? What's the best way to keep hydrated, during a long match? What do they drink and why? What's the height of the judges platform and why? What does he or she look for? What's the backstory of the ballgirls and boys? How did they get started? Funny stories of Wimbeldon or? What's was the hottest day at Wimbeldon, the coolest? Did it ever snow at a match? How many people fainted at a match?

Default I would think that that type of site could do very well

But you should probably think of trying to localize it to your area. If your that into tennis I would imagine you spend a few hours a week at various clubs. I know one in our town that offers online court reservations. You could offer that service as a suggestion to some of the clubs you belong to. You may not make any money at that but the traffic you could generate as locals find out could be enormous. That may entice google or whoever to favor your site.

I really don't know much about building traffic yet so hopefully someone with more knowledge has helped already. I do however feel that your on the right track. I want to launch another site and am wracking my brain trying to come up with ideas.

You could still make money from pursuing that site. You can never go wrong with your passion as a niche. Making a tennis-related is a good idea. For as long you make it informative, many people will be interested in visiting it. You can put ads in the site to generate online income.

Thanks you guys for your informative response. I am very passionate about this niche. Hopefully, I will do well and make websitebabble proud. I figured now would be the best time to launch a tennis site since the US Open is going on which is a really big tournament and everybody is scrambling around on different sites to find information etc. Even myself I will have to admit lol.

Also, I've noticed when registering a domain name some companies won't an upfront start cost of something ridiculous. I've seen some that asked for ranges from 20 which is fair i think, to 150 something I just don't get it.

Yeah but I found little hints and tricks to get around it. Like i looked for coupons and stuff and i ended up finding one for like $20.00. I don't know if anybody else uses them but I decided to go with hostgator. It was either that or godaddy. but I decided to go with the gator lol. So now I just need to buckle down and start creating content for my website hopefully I will make you fellow babblers proud lol.
