I am currently planning my site my-dogs
I have been looking through 2createawebsite.com and thank god I did because I was just about to create an "everything site" my first intention was to provide everything on the A-Z of dogs. Now I have realised that is just not going to work!

I tried to narrow my theme down to "puppy care" (including information for what to do when you bring your dog home...), Is this to broad? I searched puppy care in google and there were a few good sites on it. Do you guys think I have any chance in ranking high for that keyword?

Does anyone know any sites for free or for a small price that will help you brainstorm?? I know a lot of you will recommend SBI but I don't want to pay that much just for the brainstorming tool. What I am looking for is something like the brainstormer that will help me find my niche.

The keyword puppy care gets around 11,400 searches per month, which is pretty good. To be honest with you, I think you can get the #1 spot for puppy care if you do some good SEO.

Here's why:

The number one spot is www.puppycare.com. The website has 1557 inbound links according to Yahoo! Site explorer.

However, the website is getting majority of its links with the anchor text "Visit the premier puppy care web site" instead of "puppy care" and none of the websites are related to puppy care.

If you get some text links that have the anchor "puppy care" on related dog websites, you will be able to outrank that website.

I think looking for dog niches are real saturated. Its an nice idea that people just continue to reuse. I think you should pick a different niche , like developing sharp memory or even guides to the best biking trails in the usa........just something different!

Puppy care, too me seems a little too broad. Maybe you could narrow it down a bit to one breed? Do you like golden retrievers? Maybe create a website about golden retriever care. I have a little yorkie, and if I were to create a dog website I would probably start with him. I think it would be refreshing to see a dog website filled with your own personal experiences and knowledge with dogs. Just my two cents. Hope it helps :/
