Lightbulb E-Book Idea - Need Help

    Hello,

I am in the process of writing an e-book for my business. I plan on using this as part of getting readers to subscribe to mailing list.

I think I have hit a road block. I have begun writing an ebook about how to establish a web presence. I got a few pages of thoughts written already. However, it doesn't seem to flow the way I would like it to you. I am not sure if this is something that potential clients would want to read.

I have tried to do keyword research on that topic and it seems to be rather challenging. This is my first e-book.

I think its to broad of a topic and I am having trouble trying to narrow it down and put my own spin on it.

I am a graphic designer. Most of my work is with churches, but I have also done work for small business and non-profits. I feel as though, that I need to address all these groups at once. Perhaps, I could narrow it down and focus on social media.

I seem to be all over the place.

Any help, insight and thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

You should do some research first to find out what your readers want to know. What questions are they asking? They are not going to want your ebook unless it solves a problem for them.

If most of your work is with churches I would stick to that for your book unless you are going to expand into the other areas you mention. Do churches want a web presence though? I would have thought that writing a book aimed at small businesses would be better.

You could see if there is any PLR material on the subject you are writing about which would help you to complete the book. You can often find free ebooks or articles on PLR sites.

Maybe focus on website "usability" and the importance of design and the graphics. Seems like the first step in creating a web presence. How many websites are there where navigation is horrible, no news in the news section or latest news is dated somewhere in 2004. Colors that making you not want to read any further. And a million other things. I hate those websites. You could focus on the importance of graphic design and usability offline too. Flyers, stickers, newsletters, whatever you can think of. Just a thought.

    Sandy,

Thanks for responding! Please forgive me, but whats does PLR mean?

This is very interesting. After I wrote this post, I began to think about mistakes people make with their online business. The ebook itself isn't going to be extremely long. They are more like quickie tips. I'm still thinking about a catchy headline for it. I think I want to focus more on small business. I believe churches will be able to use the tips that are in this e-book.

    Thanks spirit!

It's said when people still have to animated gifs from like 1997 on their websites :-)

I think the main focus is trying to make it unique for my business. Putting my own spin on. I could write a e-book on flyer design. Oh...my...Oh...my. The things I have seen !

    @Sandy

I was able to find out what PLR is. I had never heard of it before you mentioned it. It is definitely something to look into.

So apparently people purchase PLR articles and use them on their blogs and website? Seems like interesting business to look into.

I would rather stick to that for your book unless you are traveling to aggrandize into the added areas you mention. Do churches wish a web attendance though? I would accept anticipation that autograph a book aimed at baby businesses would be better.

What about trying to find other blogs with similar audience as you want and see what they already offer as incentive to join their mailing list. Subscribe to their mailing list, install filters in your email box so each email arrives directly in its folder, do that for as many of your "competitor" as you can, analyze and you'll have a better idea by studying what the most successful are doing. They are most successful simply because they started before you and had time to ask their audience and then provide what their audience want.
Do the same and improve upon and then differenciate yourself also.
