Default Weight Loss for Teenagers - Is it a Good Idea?

I am 19 years old, and I have been struggling with weight loss my entire life. It wasn't until late 2011 did I start losing weight, and as of January 2013 I have lost a little over 30 pounds. I tried doing research about weight loss for teenagers (to check my possible competitions) but I didn't seem to find any websites about this topic!

The website will be a blog sort of. I will be posting images of myself and tell my audience what I am doing to lose weight, my successes for the week, and there will also be guides about food and exercise I do and reviews of products I have personally bought. I will also be uploading youtube videos once I get a good camera and the videos will be about Q&A, tips for weight loss, daily vlogs, etc.

Will this be a good idea for me? I am a teenager so my knowledge doesn't extend far from what I've learned in high school (and, now that I'm out of high school and in college, I'm starting to learn that this isn't much!), but I do know a lot about nutrition and what actually works.

    Thanks!

I think it sounds great as long as you are not aggressively pushing people to buy in every paragraph. A subject that you are personally involved in and enthused about is perfect.

I think it is a good idea if you are just creating a blog where you are describing your weight loss journey and the challenges you are faced with. However, you need to be careful about the advice you give to other people, as this may not apply to them and in fact may have a dentrimental effect to their health.

Moreover, you need to think about the reason of creating your website/ blog, and its longterm prospects. If you are just doing it for fun for a short period of time, then this is fine, but if you are thinking of a more serious and permanent website, it will be more tricky for you.

    Thumbs up

I think it is a great idea.

I know people that earn a LOT of money just from blogging and promoting some products and services.

Make sure that you deliver a value and be honest.

Also I recommend that you blog daily.

And realize that it may take some time to suceed. Maybe even 6 months or more. You have to be consitent if you just want to blog.

Try to conect with people on facebook twitter and othet networks.

Ask from people to share and comment. Be pacient and persistent and believe in yourslef

    Good Luck!!

Another topic you can touch upon is bullying. Perhaps you can also offer tips and encouragement for kids who are teased because of their weight. With all the cyberbully stuff going on today, I think any kind of site dedicated to motivate teens could go over well with the right presentation. Sites that make emotional connections with their readers can go over well.

The idea is great, you sound really passionate about it. Don´t forget an interactive staff (with time you may create a forum or something like that cause almost every girl has something to say on the topic) and high quality photos - nice images of everything always attract attention. Good luck!

It's a good idea and I think blogging about your weight loss and maybe featuring other teens that loss weight would also add to your site.

Have you started a blog yet? How are you doing?

It is nice to see that you want to put pictures and videos of your self.
There are a lot of people who are ashamed to do that.

That and sharing your stories will help people to trust you more
    and connect with you more.

Than just find some good quality weight lost products to promote.
You can find a lot of products on a clickbank. I also recommend that you
take a look at direct sails/mlm industry because they can
give you very high commissions and residual income.
In this industry connecting with people plays a great role.

Also I highly recommend that you learn about email marketing.
Since you are not afraid to show your self that will help you to
build a good relationship with your list. And as they say "money is in the list".

I have learned from some of the best people in this industry
and I am sure that you can sell a lot of stuff and earn a lot of money.

Congratulations on your weight loss. I think it's a great idea to document your story on a blog. Other teenagers can and surely will identify with you.

One important topic to focus on is the health benefits that come from losing weight. Good to hear that you know something about nutrition. Just remember that what works for one person may not work for another as we are all metabolically different and have needs for different ratios of protein, carbs and fat. My background is in nutrition and Metabolic Typing was a revelation to me.

Once you have your blog set up then do all you can to get traffic to it. You will find plenty of information about that on this forum.

    Good luck with your project.

I think teenagers today need help in a lot of matters apart from weight loss and self defense. Teenagers are more vulnerable to problems as they don't know how to deal ith life. If you create a blog dedicated to helping teenagers with their problems, I think it would do well.

It's up to you, however I would not always refer to weight loss but add it as a bonus to whatever you are writing about. Also what about writing an eBook and giving it away through your site in return for collecting the user's email address?

It's a great idea for a blog, you could definetly help people struggling with the same issues, but what is your long term goal with this website? You're 19 now, what happens when you're 22? Is this a project you're still going to want to be working on?

Even though weight loss is a saturated niche, your perspective of own experience and specially targetting the teeagers sounds goood. I think you should give it a try. Just be careful that you are not an expert / dietitian and don't try to sound one. There are lots of ways to monitize the site if you can build up a reasonable user base.
