Default Sick dog - Fundraising Website-Need Font

Hello
My sweet dog Lexus was diagnosed with Cancer on March 10. After a lot of thought & research we started Chemo. It is expensive and I've been raising money a few different ways. I decided to put up a website for her I bought /rented the site through Yahoo it is called BuyingTimeForLexus . I'm ATTEMPTING to put the site together in Frontpage but this is all new to me and might as well be in Chinese. I have an idea in my mind, I finally picked the background and now need a nice clean font and a way to write the title.
I WOULD LOVE SOME IDEAS - PLEASE. I like fonts like Ceasar,Metro & Zachary - clean and crisp and modern looking. The size will be between 36 - 40. If any one can come up with some word art for BuyingTimeforLexus feel free to et me know - I'd love some help
THANKS IN ADVANCE
Sharon

Hi Sharon

Sorry to hear about your dog. That must be rough.

It might be best to get someone to design a logo for you rather than using a fancy font. The reason is, not all computers have fonts beyond the basics (Arial, Times, Vedana, etc.) installed so if you used something too fancy a good percentage of computers wouldn't be able to view it anyway. With a logo, it will display the same on all PC's.

Wow ! I never thought about that but I guess it was like my eBay page it wouldn't show the cool font I had used on another computer. So this sucks obviously I cannot pay anyone to design anything because the site is for raising money but I'll give it a try myself - I just want to ask you -
*Can I create a logo in Corel save it as a JPEG and then add it to my page is there any possibility that the "word art" function in FrontPage is saving this as a logo - the word art in corporate fill, outline, size, direction, colour, and spacing - many manipulations of the word or words
*How can I check to see if my word art is being saved as font or a logo in Frontpage ?
Does this mean a website I cannot use unique fonts on my page ?
Please ANYONE who can help let me know.
THANKS

Default Should work.

By Corel do you mean Paint Shop Pro? If so, when you create a jpeg it is a graphic straight and simple. PSP will save all the details only when you save as a PSPIMAGE (with a .pspimage extension) so neither FrontPage or any other web editing program would know anything about the font used in creating the jpeg.

The same should be true with any other program. Once you have a jpeg or gif or png for your web page it will only be an image of the whole thing, text and other art work.

In regard to other uses of fonts on your page you have identified an important point. Whenever you want to use a specific, unusual font, the only way you can know it will be seen is to put it on screen as an image. Even for regular fonts in the body, etc., it is good to list a choice of fonts in your code so you have some control. Otherwise you don't even know whether readers will get a serif font or not.

Thank you for the reply. I could use corel photo paint to make the logo. The sad truth is I need to raise the money now, and this is just too involved for the time I have. I tried downloading a template and removing jpegs and placing them with the ones I want - but it did not work. In the preview it would show but not in the normal view. The same goes with creating a new page in Frontpage I added auto shapes to my background and text in one of the shapes but when I go to preview nothing shows but the back ground and one jpeg. Why is that ? Does it have something to do with the 'order' of these auto shapes I'm adding ? I assume that they are sitting under my background or else WHY can I not see them ?
THANKS in advance

Default My advice is to follow Lisa's advice.

Personally I wouldn't use Frontpage, or even bother with Dreamweaver even though it is better, for this kind of reason. When I do my coding directly it may not be so fancy, but I am in control.

I can't really tell you what Frontpage is doing with the code. Even if you look at it, it is hard to figure out sometimes. [And if you really want to be amazed, try saving a Word document to html and take a look at the code it produces. If you want to fix something there you are really up a creek without a paddle]

For what you are trying to do there are a lot of folks around who would like to help you out. Find a high school geek or someone like that if you can.

Or heres one possibility. Make a page in some program you know, even Word or Publisher or whatever. Save it as a pdf file, and upload that. You can use all the fonts or whatever you want that way.
