all great companies have names that have no meaning

You mean great companies like
Burger King,
Taco Bell, Wal
Mart,
Home Depot, Fox
News, General
Motors, ...
Most people do seek names that folks can remember and that sound attractive for one reason or another. But just remember, almost every one of those meaningless names were made meaningful by hugely expensive advertising budgets.
But if you can use a full name like "Cloud 9 Web Design" you could use the short version of "Cloud 9" a certain percentage of the time and try to develop that as your name. That particular one would be difficult, however (as would many others), because there are already many companies with that as part of their name. So if you just wrote "Cloud 9" somewhere people might very logically think of someone else.
If you want a meaningless name to become useful you have to come up with something no one else has and promote it until well recognized or use one others have in somewhat non-related businesses and promote it to the number one recognition through advertising.
Note: There is already a Cloud 9 Web Design and a Cloud Nine Web Design so that one would not really be an available choice. You have to research any name before using it.
Choosing a name is a challenge for any business. You are not wasting your time thinking it through carefully.
