Support email address opens Google Mail page

Hi

I have created a new support email address for my thank you page through
HostGator which arrives into my Outlook Express account. It works fine when I test it from another email address.

I am using Xsite pro for the web design (WISIWIG) and have added the email address to my thank you page (for a product I am about to launch) but when I click on the link it opens a Google Mail page. ( I do have a Google mail address as well).

I have tried using the link cloaker widget (on a new page) in Xsite pro as a solution that was posted on the Xsite pro message board but it has not made any difference.

The email address appears correct in the source code .

Does anyone have any idea why this is happening and how to make it work as it should please?

Hi Sandy

If I understand you correctly this doesn't have anything to do with your site, it's how your PC is configured. Do you have some kind of Google mail client installed on your PC andset as the default? I didn't even know Google had such a thing with Gmail but that's what it sounds like. For example when I click any email link from my computer, Outlook opens 'cause that's my default.

Sounds like that may be the issue, especially since you said it works fine from other computers.

Hi Lisa

What I meant was that the email address worked fine from my own computer using another of my email addresses to send a message to the support email address. So it is set up correctly.

I am assuming that the email link on my download page will open the same
Google mail page that I got if someone clicks on it.

I can't find any Google mail client on my computer.

hi sanhal,
as lisa said its about your pc configuration. Is there a google toolbar installed on your computer/browser? if yes there is the problem. Google toolbar makes Gmail your default Email client and hence when you click on a email link you get directed to a gmail page.
