Default HTML question please

Hello, it's been awhile for me here, took Lisa's advise and learned html and css, I have one question...I am writing my own code (yeah me) to do my site for the template I am going to make,do I need to leave "room" on the right side for adwords, click on and such ,haven't learned about them yet. The front page will have a left side, main content, but didn't know if I needed to specify a right side or not ? Thanks Debbie

Hi Debbie,

Yay for you. I'm assuming you're using div tags since you're using CSS right? Well you just need to add a div tag and float it to the right. If you download my CSS template you may be able to see what I did. See if that helps.

Default How to leave room?

That's a good question to raise here. I've wondered about the column widths for the right column and when/how to place it myself.

I remember Lisa saying that she goes wider than the older suggestion of 800 pixels for overall width since almost all monitors are wider now. What I am doing on a site I am working with now is to work with two columns, left navigation and center text. I made it 800 pixels overall with the idea that I can leave that width (at least approximately) and ad on the right column later to primarily (not totally) enclose ads.

My thinking is that I don't want to place ads until I have good content and hits. At the same time I want to work with a main column that I won't change later so that I can style it (including images, etc.) in a way that won't have to be a major concern later as far as layout adjustments.

I would appreciate hearing what strategy others with some experience have found to be a good over plan.

Not sure what you mean? Find out about what ads? The AdSense ads?

Have you joined AdSense yet? I'm not sure what you need to find out. You copy and paste the code into your site and the ads are generated based on your content.

Nope. You just apply at http://adsense.sitesell.com and then when you are approved they give you the code to paste and the ads automatically show.
