Hi There,

If you are not going to use borders or a different background behind the table, the height should not matter. As you add content, the table will automatically adjust itself vertically.

Another issue you may run into is the table width as a percentage. A good design rule of thumb is to design for a width of 800 pixels since studies have shown that most monitors are set to 800x600 resolution. So, if all of your content can fit into 800x600 px table, just set the table to those parameters and you should be fine. You can even center the table itself.

I hope this helps.

Cool

I don't know if you have already solved this, but if you want a set size for the table, you should do it in pixels. Sometimes percentages can be a little finicky. I know this was mentioned before, I guess I'm just reinforcing it.

That is wonderful news! What did you end up doing to solve the problem if you don't mind me asking?

I think I over complicated the problem. I wanted to create my layout so that it would be centered and I was under the impression for some reason that I needed to create a nested table in order to do this..... One thing led to another and I confused myself.

My solution was simple I just used

From my experiences, height at 100% is a no go. As of today the height of a web page is limitless so that by setting a % value yields nothing. It is width that can be controlled more efficiently. It would be better to use either a fixed height value such as px or em than using %. A drawback to use a fixed height value is that text may run outside the box if the text is longer than the height fixed. The % allows elasticity or fluidness only for width and for web browsers as we know them today, this for setting for height does not exist using the % value. You can have height elasticity by not calling height value at all.
