Default deleting middle tables to enter new data

HI,

I hope you can help.

I have downloaded the following template http://www.2createawebsite.com/image...late14_big.jpg and will use this as my homepage with the proper revisions.

I would like to make a duplicate page and delete the inside "wooden picture frame" and its' contents so that I can add my own information. This would be the page that is linked to from the home page. For whatever reason I can't remove the "frame" without goofing up the whole design. The tables start shifting around and it becomes quite the mess.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Egg

Someone else designed those templates for me otherwise I'd be of more help. I just opened it up in Dreamweaver. I was able to successfully remove the images and keep everything in line. But the tricky part is there are so many tables you are going to have to play with the col span and rowspan numbers to get all the tables out.

That could get tricky if you're trying to keep the sides the same but change the middle content. The slicing of the images and the tables make arranging that pretty tricky. I'll keep playin' with it and see if I can come up with something.

If any coding experts are feeling lucky, the link to the template is...

Default deleting center

Hi Lisa,

Wow I am impressed with you response time. If you can even get close I would be so appreciative. I was able to delete the top images/tables quickly but it is the tables underneath it that are the pain I found. Thanks for looking at it so quickly.

Here you go egg. The file is attached, it needs to be placed in the same folder as the index.html to have the css linked correctly, etc. then you can move it wherever.
It's just a matter of merging cells in the center table, basically eliminating cell divisions in the center table.
Lisa, feel free to add this to your template if you wish.

Hope that helps.

(P.S. I am not a coding expert, though )

Default Thanks!

Thanks you both so much for helping out. I was a little hesitant to ask because I thought it might be a waste of time. Keep up the great service, I will definitely pay it forward.

It's my pleasure, always.

For future reference whenever trying to change a table layout it's easier if you remember that you cannot just delete a table, something has to fill that space and, since all the tables are at absolute values, nothing is there to do so. Think of the entire table as a box stuffed with wooden blocks, if you remove one, nothing will be able to take its place. If you super-glue two together it will be one block but it will fill the entire space. It works the other way as well, you can't just go stuffing more blocks into your box (although as a guy I'm gonna try like hell ) but if you cut one or two down to make room, it will fit.
There, have I confused the issue enough?

To merge cells in Dreamweaver just hold down control and click the cells you wish to merge then right click and merge cells. I don't know how to do it in any other programs (except notepad) sorry. Told you I'm not a coding expert.

Merging tables, that's it! Gosh... Since I started using CSS, I haven't messed with tables in so long I forgot about that little trick. U-da-man, DotComBot.
