Default Control subscriber access to content

Hi,
Can someone help me out? I'm trying to create a website where there are some initial articles but if visitors would like to read more, they can subscribe (ie provide username, email & pwd) to be able to read the rest of the articles.

I can create a form for people to subscribe and send me their email details but how do I control access to the article pages?
Can I do it using Wordpress or some standard scripts?

Pls help.

Much thanks!
Chris

Hi, it sounds to me like you are looking to create a website that can have membership, much like these forums. If you create a website using a content management system like Drupal or Joomla people can join or become members. You can then make pages accessible only to logged in members. You can also use a conditional script to make a portion of an article accessible to members only.

Maybe you could tell us a little more about what you are trying to do with your site and if you are coding it yourself.

Hi,
First of all, thanks very much to the responses

Hi Theresa,
Yes, it's just like you mentioned. I want to create a website where I post articles which I write and readers can comment on it (just like a blog). However I'd like to do it such that only logged in members can read the pages and comment. I don't know how to code in Joomla or Drupal - is there a simpler way like a script I can install on top of Wordpress to allow users to sign up as members before they can read the articles. Can it also be made so that some pages do not require log in while others do?

Hi Psychdev,
I'd really appreciate it if you could send me the php script, but could you also tell me how to use it - I'm a real newbie on CMS :-( My email is tsaps31@yahoo.com.

Much thanks!
Chris
