HTML is short for HyperText Markup Language. How the language got so hyper is beyond me, too much caffeine maybe..

lol. I think html is a lot easier than many other programming and coding languages. You really do not need to learn html to edit sites created in html any more. You can just use any wysiwyg editor most of the time.

Instructions in the form of tags (ex. <html>) that tell your browser how to display the contents..
