Word-of-mouth advertising
Given the kind of site I am starting (mostly dedicated to my literary works with some tips for other writers on the side) I am expecting that no one is going to find me via google, or at least very little. It's all gonna be "social bookmarking" as someone put it... (was it rooney? techieguy? Some nice person on this site.)
Anyway. I figured I should join a lot of socialnetworking sites so I could run around the forums, journals, etc, commenting on their works, on their thoughts, with a link in my sig.
These are the sites that I've joined:
myspace.com
gaiaonline.com
vampirefreaks.com
Any other sites you think would be good?

Hi Augenauf,
Facebook.com
There are a ton of groups on there, and I am sure you will find many releavant groups.
I also think it may be a good idea to get involved in a truly word-of-mouth kind of way, where you look up and participate in groups in your local area/your community who may be interested in your website.

Oh, facebook, I've heard of that. Thanks. As for the second part:
I live. In. IOWA. My options are limited there. xD Des Moines just isn't a real "group-ish" town.

I too am struggling to speak to my freinds about my site i mean who honestly has a passion about hamsters lol, just no. So i suppose i will always have to advertise my site on-line and stick with stuff like google groups, facebook etc. Most of my messenger contacts would probably block me if i suggested them to go to my site.
