Good content matters a lot. You can only drive traffic from social networking sites if your site has good content. Quality contents drive (repeated) traffic naturally.

You might want to learn about SEO if you want something long term. Build backlinks using your keyword as the anchor text and you'll have higher chance to rankf for your keyword phrases

Backlink, only backlinks can improve you site traffic for this you need to work at social networking site and invite friends at you site.

Follow a bunch of people in your niche, have interesting things to say and eventually people will follow you.

I just got started with following around 40 people and all ready 9 are following me. I think they are following me because they want me to follow them. Inevitablely folk will convert. It's a numbers game. You're in the right direction, however you need "volume."

Use correct and effective keywords, post in social bookmarks, directories, article websites and other places.

you can go with SEO tactics like social bookmarking, directory submission , directory submission etc.
