Default The reasons my website was demoted in SERP

I've built a nice HTML site. I'm using this SEO tool to track my site position.
Lastly, that tool sent me emails which notice me mysite position demoted.
How can I find out the reasons of the surprising change in my website position.

Please let me know,

Thanks,
Amanda

Welcome to Website Babble. I notice this is your first post. This is a terrific site. I hope you enjoy it as much as the rest of us do.

First, I would relax. It is easy to get concerned about things that may not matter or be real. I have a site I am working on that was on Google's first page from the time I started working on it (I am not ready to promote it even now) and suddenly it disappeared altogether from a couple of key words.

At the same time more and more people are finding it everyday which pushes me to keep working on it. So it must have gone up somewhere else when it went down in one place. I will track it down when I am ready but I want to stay focused on my content now.

Look at stats (from your host or google analytics) to see how many people are really visiting your site each day, week, month. Are you really going down?

But more important. What makes you think your site has been demoted? Is it just the people who offer that tool as a come on saying so when they want to sell you services? Is it honest information or a pressure tactic? If false I would run from them.

I don't want to say they are not on the up and up, it may be a great service. But I would be very cautious. That is why most people here (and elsewhere) use google analytics for getting this kind of information.

Welcome Amanda1982,

Good advice, James. Rank fluctuations are very common among sites (especially if they are new). And while I'm not familiar with the tool you used, I'm not surprised that it is reporting such data. Just keep building, promoting your site and your rankings will stabilize over time.

Like Lisa alraedy said: for a rather new site it is pretty normal to jump up and down.

Just keep on working on your site. And do not let anybody tell you that SEO is dead. Otherwise you will never rank

Thanks for this. I am so worried because my 12-day-old website which had been #7 or#8 in google in the past 2 days is now #632. A few minutes ago, it was #275. What's this? The Google dance? But I thought it would fluctuate only by 5 or 10 notches.

The only thing I did yesterday was add about 20 backlinks to it. If this is about duplicate content, I found only the index page to have about 275 words similar to some other websites on the same niche. I have updated it now to lessen the duplicate content word count.

Yahoo however is constant and my site is up there at number 1. Bing so far has no idea yet that my site exists.

I guess I'll have to wait it out and see what happens. I was beginning to think my backlinks had somehow brought it down.

In the way of a quick correction: Google dance just does not exist any longer. Fresh data have long since been continuously pushed, so it is technically incorrect to keep referring to the now-extinct phenomenon.

It seems that Googel never be nice to a new site, jsut as all have been said it is quite normal to have a little uo and down, but if I were U, I would try to make sure that I am still indexed by Google, that make great difference.

just type site:your domain in google, u will know.
