Default Yahoo Answers for Extra Traffic

I have found that I get some good traffic to my site by answering questions at Yahoo Answers. By leaving quality answers and a link to my site people tend to click the link.

Does anyone feel the same? has anyone had the same experiences?

Hi there,

To this day my flat stomach site receives 10-20 visits per day from Yahoo Answers and I haven't posted there in months. What's even more frustrating is that my traffic stats don't give the full URL so I can't see what questions are providing me the traffic. I'd LOVE to know. So to answer your question, it can really help, especially if a few people who use Yahoo Answers decide to recommend your site... I guess that's what's been happening to me.

Hey Lisa, I use the free Statcounter.com tool to give me my traffic information. They also provide me with the FULL URL of where my traffic comes from, including from Yahoo Answers. It could be of assistance to you if you would like to know the exact questions your traffic is coming from. If you already know of this tool, my apologies.

I haven't used Yahoo! Answers in the past, although I have been thinking about it.

I get a few clicks from Yahoo! Answers from people who have posted links to my site to help others.

Thanks Marksmarkmou. I'm using Google Analytics and you'd think they'd show the full URL in the breakdown menu but for some reason for that domain it never does when it does for others. I hate to use yet another stat program but maybe I'll use it for a day or two just to see what question my traffic is coming from.... because it's quite a lot!

Yahoo Answers is my highest traffic source next to Google. Thankfully the section pertaining to my website is very active, and those visitors tend to love ads as well.

In addition to leaving my url in the source box at YA, I also link to specific pages of my site in the body of my answer, when appropriate. I always provide very helpful information and make sure the links back to my site are relevant and provide useful info.

It has turned out to be a great source of traffic for my site.

Hey Lisa...have you tried it yet?

I had also heard about it on the SBI forum and yesterday decided to put it on my site...I LOVE IT! It tells me so much more than GA does.

You can see exactly which Yahoo answer brought someone to your site...which pages they visited...how long they spend on each page (except for that last page)...where they are.

There are sooo many different ways of looking at the info....I just sort of looked at the basics with GA and found it to be an overall PITA...this is nice and easy and in my face.

Only two small issues I am having...it is supposed to exclude me...I have added three IP addresses to be excluded but it is still counting me...has to do with my cookie settings I believe.

And also...by the description I thought I would not have to upgrade until I got to be a big, grownup site....but I already have 20% of my free log amount filled after only 1.5 days. I will upgrade though and pay the fee. I love these stats so much more!

And as to the original question...I get some traffic from Yahoo Answers but not a huge amount. But traffic is traffic at my early stage of the game! I try to answer two to three questions per week. I get a bigger amount of traffic from this forum!!!

Haven't tried it yet but hope to soon. Sounds like they have a pretty low traffic limit before they start charging, though. My SBI! site gets nearly 6,000 visits per day. I wonder where that will put me. The only thing I really want to see is the Yahoo answer referrals. Maybe I'll just join temporarily just to see. LOL
