Yahoo Answers?

Anyone use Yahoo Answers to market their site? This is a great article...

You bet I do. I use it to answer questions and I've also gotten traffic just from people recommending my sites in their answers. So far I've receved over 30 visits this month from Yahoo Answers to my fitness site. Not a lot of traffic but I'll take it considering it's all free, word of mouth visitors.

I know people who go there at least once a day to answer various questions in their niche, which is a very good strategy if you ask me. Especially if you take your time to craft helpful, useful answers.

Any little bit of traffic helps.

So is it legal to advertise your own site in your answers?

No but you can advertise your site in your profile and when you answer a question, people can click on your avatar and view your profile.

I actually got an affiliate sale once from my Yahoo Answers post. I had a specific tracking link in my profile so I know it came from that. Pretty cool eh? Hasn't happened in a while but it was exciting when it happened.

I use Yahoo Answers all the time to answer questions on things I'm interested in. I never really though to use it as a marketing tool.

Absolutely. The nice thing about Yahoo Answers is that you can do an advanced search for questions in a certain category. So if your site is about golf, you can search for golf related questions, post a helpful answer and then people may view your profile and possibly visit your site.
I know someone who sold a Site Build It! subscription just by using Yahoo Answers. They simply answered a question about starting a home based business and the person who posted the question viewed her profile and bought from her link.

Making money on the web is all about building credibility through useful content. Whether you do it on your own site, forums, Yahoo answers... if you learn how to be THE source in your niche then you're on your way.
