Default NEWBIE NEEDS YOUR HELP FROM BEING SCAMMED!!!

Or maybe not, what do you think? Have any of you pros heard about an internet home based business called WebMoney? They were featured on CNN, , AOL, ABC, MSNBC, USA Today and there was an article on the Friday 6/2/09 Online Jobs Journal. It's a home based internet system that shows you how to make money on Google and such. It's all inclusive, they give you every thing you need to get started and they only want $1.97 to get started.
Well, after reading that article, I bought into the program!!!
Let me just start by saying that I have been laid off for 8 months and have not found a job yet. This is the first time in my entire life that I have been unemployed and it is terrifying. I am not looking for any get rich quick scheme, I am ready to work for my money. I just need the opportunity to present itself and I will do the work. No one has given me anything in my life and don't expect them to.
So last Friday when I came across this article, I did some research but couldn't find anything bad on the net so I bought it for $1.97. Then after I sign on and gave them my credit card info, they then asked for $97.95 to sign on to their PRO status which will allow me to create unlimited website instead of just 1 website so that I could make more money. So I signed on for $97.95 thinking that it will be a one time fee. But I still did not understand the program. I was hoping to speak to someone since they have a service that have real people to assist you if you require assistance. But of course, it was Friday evening by then and with the long weekend, they were closed. I looked at their site and I couldn't figure out what I'm supposed to do or how I'm supposed to make money. I am not understanding the concept. Then I went back to the original site and read the fine print!!!! They will be charging me $69.99 EVERY MONTH. Well, needless to say, I can't wait till tomorrow to call and cancel.
Have any of you heard of this system? Can you explainn to me how it works? Is there a way to do this without signing on to something like this system?
Thanks and sorry for such a long post.
Saddie
p.s.
how do you bold the title thread? I tried to press on the bold icon but it only will bold the content of the thread not the title portion. Thanks.

Default Sorry to say...

Saddie, sorry to say, we have posted numerous times on this scam. So sorry, you didn't ask for advice for you gave them your cc.

As you have found out, the scam is the $1.97, to get your foot in the door. Similar scams, ask for only 4 or 5 bucks. Most folks, figure what the heck, if it's a scam, I am only out a $1.95.

I saw a figure where one outfit had 2500 people per month fall for this scam at $1.95 a pop. You can figure out why the scam is so popular. Another was pulling in $10,000 per month!

The sad thing, then is that you fell for the real scam, which is to get your credit card number. Needless to say, I don't need to tell you, as you have been taken...

Once they get your card number, your goose is cooked. Not sure how to take care of this, once they have you. You may then need to cancel your card, but you should get some legal advice ASAP. Also check with your bank or Credit Card Co.. The other thing is to maybe contact your States Attorney Generals office and see if they can help you. I would also contact your local BBB and post the scam so others are not taken.

Please keep us posted, as we have had lot of people ask about this very scam. ;(

I signed up for a similar program earlier. Same thing, pay 1.97 for 7 day trial. I think it was the google kit or something like that. But of course it was a scam. So I called them up and canceled my membership and so far I haven't had any future charges. So I would call asap and hopefully they will allow you to cancel with no problems.

But yea, if it is what i think it is, it is a scam and you should get out asap. Also don't believe all the reviews you might read about these programs because these reviews are usually written by affiliates and they make a commission for every signup. So there main goal is to get you to sign up and not tell the truth.

Saddie1222, I understand your plight, I've been unemployed for the past 7 months. If you are looking to make money with websites I suggest you try Site Build It as a viable option, Lisa has a banner link on the forum. It is a well structured do-it-yourself 10 day program, with tons of helpful aids and tools, their are also some experts on here that have used it. I just recently purchased the program myself and I am currently on Day 3 of the program. I am very very very happy with my purchase. You can check out the website tour, it has a lot of information. Also, this forum has a forum delicated to the SBI users. I've even started a thread on their which tracks my progress, you are more than welcome to check it out as well, and all the other threads on there. Let me know if I can be of assistance, I will do what I can as I continue learn the process. This website forum is very supportive. All the best.

Sorry to hear about this, Sadie. Yes there are a LOT of scams out here like that that just "get you in the door" with a low fee. The bottom line is, if you want to make money online the only thing you should ever have to pay for upfront is your website. I know the damage is done and I hope you get this taken care of but it sickens me that so many companies are capitalizing on unsuspecting people. And with the economy and layoffs they KNOW people are more anxious to make money so they are having a field day. It's a shame.

Sounds like a regular membership site to me. I actually saw the advert 3 weeks ago and I think the $1.97, or whatever it was, was an introductory offer

A lot of membership sites work on the same premise

I think the problem was not reading the fine print

About affiliate marketing and making money, as you said, it will not make you rich overnight but if you work at it, it could make you financially independent in time

The key is to work hard and keep learning and implementing

There is a lot of free material on the internet that teaches you the basics of making money woth a website be it through affiliate marketing, adsense or some other method. You really do not need to shell out you hard earned cash to learn the basics, especially if you have been unemployed for 8 months now

With regards to the offer you signed up for, most programs like this tend to offer a money back guarantee [again read the fine print] so you may b able to get your money back

Good luck

Before leaping into an opportunity as such, it really pays to do your home work. Always search Google to see if there are any scam complaints about a particular opportunity before taking the plunge. Too many complaints is a red flag...not matter how promising the opportunity looks.
