Default Not a question, just a comment from Lisa's blog.

On our own dear Lisa's blog I found a post from which I took the following exerpt:

Quote:
You know you're doing something right when people ask you to provide them with your affiliate link before they buy a product.

That's what happened today in my forum, WebsiteBabble.com. And to be honest, it's not the first time I've been asked.

In my opinion, this says so much about the importance of PREselling a product. When you give useful information, build credibility by actually proving you use the product... you'll find many people will WANT to make sure you earn the commission for the sale.
Whenever I'm browsing a site that I am particularly fond of, I'll pay special attention to things like google adds and if I see one that looks kind of funny or interesting, I'll be sure to click it where as otherwise I would probably ignore them.

What goes around comes around, you know? It's good karma, too.

Anyone else pay more attention to ads on sites they like? =)

I remember a post in the BlogCatalog discussions where someone mentioned that they clicked on the Google Ads when they visited a blog. They called it "leaving a tip".

I've heard of it too although I don't click other people's ads unless I'm truly interested. I realize people are doing it to be kind, but as a PPC advertiser myself I wouldn't want people using up my funds with empty clicks. So I'm a bit sensitive to that.

Instead I try to buy products through the person's affiliate links when applicable. An example would be Allan Gardyne. I always try to make sure he gets the credit for products he recommends because his tips have helped me so much along the way. That's how I leave my tip.

I only click on an add if I am truly interested, but I am more likely to on a site I like.

I once accidentally clicked on a add at a site I was trying to leave. I was an awful site, full of ads and no content. I was so upset with myself for giving that guy a click, even if it was just a few cents.

I realize your point, Lisa. I wouldn't want google ads to become ineffective and I don't want google to quit offering them, so I only post about ads that I am curious about, too. -nods- It's just that, if I'm on a site I like, I actually take the time to find in their ads something I'm interested in... you know?
