Secrets to Success
1. How You Think Is Everything. — Learn to visualize success and not failure. The phrase "You are what you think" is a powerful idea. Don’t listen to the voices that are pulling you down -- you can’t spend all your time trying to win over your critics. Run your own race.
2. It's Not About the Money — Material things are the results of success, but are not success itself. It’s great having a nice home, a six-figure salary or luxury vacations, but success isn’t measured by the dollars. It’s measured by how satisfied you feel.
3. Goals, Goal, Goals — Remember that goals must be meaningful and personal; otherwise, you won’t be inspired to achieve them.
4. Great Expectations — For something desirable to happen, you must want the event to happen, firmly believing it will occur and expecting it to take place.
5. To Fail Is to Succeed — Failure pushes you to levels you never dreamed of, and can open doors you never thought possible. See failure as a life lesson for what works and what doesn’t.
6. Dream Big — Never be afraid to follow the dreams of your heart. It’s the fuel for success. Your dreams give you the energy and inspiration to aim for an authentic life.
7. Take Responsibility — Stop expecting things to just happen without action. You need to take action to reach your goals, without blaming others for bumps or setbacks you may find along the way. Own the choices you make: Be a victor, not a victim.
8. Positive, Not Negative — If you are passionate about your dreams and goals, you’re likely to attract people who will want to support and help you. Call on them when you need encouragement or guidance.
9. Never Stop Learning — Read books, take classes, take the time to learn all you can about things that excite, motivate or inspire you. Never lose that sense of wonder or curiosity when it comes to seeking more knowledge.
10. Belief in a Higher Power — Regardless of your religion, develop a strong sense of faith in God and have a daily attitude of gratitude for what you have in this life. Believe that there is a divine purpose to your life and know that there is power in prayer
This will help all you struggling to be successful!

This is some excellent, excellent advice. I am a HUGE believer in the philosophy that you are what you believe (and think). So many people start out with such a big element of fear of failure that they are failing even before they begin their site (without realizing it). I cannot emphasize enough how important your own belief and positive attitude plays in this.
These forums are a great example. Sometimes you can predict a person's outcome just by what they post here. There are those who come with the wrong attitude and talking down about their abilities even before they start. Then there are others with the same knowledge (or lack of knowledge) as the naysayers, but they have an element of belief and positivity about the whole process. You immediately know that their chances for success are much greater than the ones with the self defeating attitudes. You gotta have that glass is half full approach.
These tips that you provided aren't just for a successful business, they are also the keys to a successful life. Love it, love it!!

My problem is with the goals. Is it best to set them lower so you can obtain them easily, therefore, feeling accomplished for reaching them? Or should you set the goal so high that you have to work harder to reach them, possibly never reaching them?

“Aim for the stars and maybe you'll reach the sky” is what they say right? So if you fail you'll always land on the clouds. I'd recommend setting higher goals instead of lower ones. Just make sure you have a detailed action plan...

Shoot for the moon, and even if you never reach it, you'll still be among the stars.

How to set goals.
Goals should be set high enough to be challenging but reasonable enough to be reached every time (not that circumstances may not prevent your success at times). Otherwise they are dreams, not goals. Then you set out a detailed plan to reach the goal with steps you can and will attain.
If you set goals that are too high you will not be able to have the belief in yourself that makes an all out effort possible. If set too low there is not enough challenge to stimulate real effort.
Every time you reach a goal you will be able to set and reach an even more challenging one the next time. This is a proven principle that has helped many people develop extremely successful lives.

You have listed great points.I think my problem is not to have a proper aim in life. Without the aim we can't achieve noting. Is it?
