Default Who Makes Money in SPAM?

Spam is like . . . .bad weather.... I have no control over it.

But as I'm deleting a handful of useless, unwanted and sometimes pointless emails (pointless = they don't even have a link in them) I get to wondering. .. ..who makes money off spam?

I mean. . ..who out there can say. . ."yeah, I dedicate a monthly budget of "X" to SPAM and I see a great return on my investment... ."

I'm just trying to diversify. Please, teach me the secrets to the art of spam.

I think about this a lot as I weed through my email. I betcha someone (or some people) have found ways to profit from it. So annoying. They did a special on 20/20 once and they interviewed a "former spammer" and they showed all the servers he used to send hundreds of thousands of emails per hour.

Default No way to tell...

There is probably no way to tell. And here is why. It is sort of like the preacher who skipped church to play golf. For the first time in his life he made a hole in one. BUT, it was a sad victory. Why? Because he didn't dare tell anyone.

Even if someone does manage to make a lot of money with spam they would probably be afraid to tell anyone out of fear of the repercussions.

The guy on 20/20 said he was doing pretty well but I agree James, even if there was a large number of people doing well with it, most would never admit it.

I think "Hormel Foods Corporation" is doing great with spam.

I'm sure there are other's that profit from spam through e-mail. Just think about how many people are money-tight now that will jump at the first "easy-money" opportunity they hear about.

Saw this article on Twitter this morning (posted by @google). Thought it was somewhat relevant to this topic.

http://googleenterprise.blogspot.com...s-q1-2009.html

Those spammers are relentless!

Good Lawd!

Look at those numbers!

So it is not about money more so than it is about being destructive.. ..
That makes more sense. Still. . . you have to have alot of time on your hands to say. . ."I'm just going to see how destructive I can be. . oh I know, I'll SPAM people to death".

Shouts out to Google. . .aka. . "Almighty Web God"

Good looking on the link Lisa!

Those are usually just to test if they get through the spam filters... report them with the rest if you aren't already

Does this include Nigeria style scams and phishing? or simply sending out SPAM emails?
